On the way, we will stop for swimming in places well known all over the world for their beauty. We stay overnight in graceful hotels or family pensions, watch the most beautiful sunsets, taste local and geek specialties and much more. A car will follow the group and will always be nearby. It will carry our bags from place to place (+) tools, first aid supplies, snacks, water, tired riders and more. The nearest medical facility will be an hour away by car at the most. Riding is on paved roads, you do not have to be an expert to join the tour but it will be better if you have prior experience. You will enjoy it more if you are in good shape, since 1/3 of our every day mileage is going uphill. Of course if the going gets too tough for you, you can ride in the car.
Trip Summary:
Day 1 - Arrival at the airport of Hania. Drive to the city of Hania, spend some time in the old town. Transfer to the village of Spilia. Tonight you will be introduced to Cretan cuisine.1st class hotel.
Day 2 - Spilia Falassarna (Total 37 km, 4 km uphill, difficulty 3*) Falassapna an ancient naval town, still preserved are its walls, foundations of houses, tombs and a stone throne probably dedicated to Poseidon. An ideal place for swimming.
Day 3 - Falassarna-Chrisoskalitissa (Total 45 km, 17 km uphill, difficulty 3*). Chrisoskalitissa:Tonight we stay in a old monastery built on top of a rock 35 m high.
Day 4 - Chrisoskalitissa-Palaiohora (Total 44 km, 7 km uphill, difficulty 3*). Palaiohora:A beautiful city built right next to the libian sea with gorgeous beaches. A town fully developed to accommodate all your need for a night out.
Day 5 - Palaiohora-Sougia (Total 40 km, 15km uphill, difficulty 3*+)
Sougia :an ancient city known for its archaeological interest and natural beauty. A perfect place to relax.
Day 6 - Sougia-Omalos (Distance 40 km, difficulty 3 ½ *). At an altitude of 1085 m we reach the town of Omalos build in a plateau of irregular shapes surrounded by steep mountains.
Day 7 - Today we walk the last 900m of mount Gigilos located at the beginning of Samaria gorge. On the way down we stop for a taste of local honey and cheese like the gods used to do.
Day 8 - Today is the day we say good-bye. We will take you by car down to the city of Hania and from there to the airport.
