The land is covered with pine forests, marquis (dry shrubs), and is cultivated with olive and cypress groves dotted around. Their coastlines are very indented and largely rocky, with small sandy/shingly coves tucked in amongst the cliffs. We will be cycling in small village streets in the island’s interior and in coastal roads offering amazing scenery of the Ionia Sea. We will have many opportunities for swimming in emerald green waters and enjoy some water sports like sea kayaking, snorkelling or scuba diving.
You can arrive to Lefkada, starting point of this trip either by direct charter flight (Preveza Airport) or by local transport from Athens (about 5 hours drive).
Trip Summary:
Day 1 - Arrive to Lefkada Island. Upon your arrival in Preveza, our transfer vehicle will take you to our hotel in Vassiliki. Welcome dinner in a local tavern with delicious Greek meze and wine.
Day 2 - Northeast Lefkada. In the morning we will pick our bikes and our guide will brief you on the trip. We start cycling northeast to the traditional village of Karia. We will cross various old villages where we will also stop for a snack and picnic. We will also visit the waterfalls in Nidri and continue cycling until we rich the Village of Karia. We spend the night in a local pension.
Day 3 - Southwest Lefkada. Today, we head southwest of Lefkada. We will pass from the famous beach of Porto Katsiki and stop for picnic in Cape Ducato. After we visit the old church of Agios Nikolaos we return to our base in Vassiliki.
Day 4 - Water sport activities in Lefkada. This is a free day in order to relax and enjoy different activities such as sea kayaking, diving, trekking, or rib excursion with snorkelling.
Day 5 - Travel to Ithaka. Today we are crossing the Ionian channel either by ferry (1 hour) or by Inflatable Ribs to Ithaka Island. We will cycle from the main port Vathi to Frikes. Return to Vathi for dinner and spend the night in an organised campsite.
Day 6 - Explore south Ithaka. Today we are exploring the south part of Itaka. We will stop for a swim in magical beaches and explore deserted villages. In the evening we take the ferry back to Vassiliki for a farewell BBQ dinner and party.
Day 7 - Departure day and will take you to Preveza airport for departure.
