We are pleased to offer 2 distinctive cooking programs:
The COOKING & SPA ESCAPE makes the perfect get-away by combining 2 nights in a beautiful mountain lodge, where you will experience 3 hands-on “Tico” cooking lessons, followed by 2 nights pampering at a resort famous for it’s thermal waters. Visit an hacienda to see traditional methods for processing coffee and sugar cane, as well as some of Costa Rica's most spectacular scenery. You will be surprised by the variety of flavors and traditional cooking techniques you will learn, not to mention the lush landscape and sheer beauty of this tiny country.
Day 1:
-You are met at the San Jose International Airport and transferred directly to Santa Cruz de Turrialba. At your hotel you relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the Turrialba Valley and the mountains. After dinner, there will be an orientation to your tour.
Day 2:
- Morning Cooking Class: Costa Rican Highlands Cooking.
- Tayutic Hacienda Experience: Tour & Lunch at the Ortuño Family Hacienda for an inside view of how sugarcane, coffee and macadamia nuts are processed and their historical importance for Costa Rica. Visit a little church built in the beginning of the 20th Century, beautiful gardens,and a herbal farm to learn about the use of herbs for medicines and for cooking.
- Evening: Demonstration on Making Chocolate from Cacao.
Day 3:
-Morning Cooking Class: African-Caribbean Cooking, with Costa Rica's best known African-Caribbean chef.
-After lunch, transfer to Paraiso (Paradise!) through the historic and beautiful Orosi Valley. Tour Lankester Gardens, one of the most valuable botanical centers in the Americas, spanning 27 acres and including 1,000 kinds of orchids. Next, on to your resort located on the south side of the Aguas Caliente River in a lush mountainside setting. The swimming pool is fed by thermal mineral waters from Irazu Volcano.
Day 4:
-Today is your day to kick back and relax. The spa offers a full range of treatments and your tour includes a one-hour massage. You can exchange your massage for other spa treatments: manicures, pedicures, paraffin applications, or facials.
Day 5:
-Say goodby with a direct transfer to the San Jose airport for your afternoon departure to the United States.

A 5 or 8-DAY TROPICAL COOKING SCHOOL & TOUR IN COSTA RICA is a private tour for culinary students and professionals. Passengers will experience hands-on cooking lessons in three local cuisines; Tico Highlands, Nouvelle Tropical, and African-Caribbean, taught by local cooks. In addition to the extensive culinary course, the students will also experience the wonder of this beautiful country with white water rafting, a volcano tour, and a tour of ancient monuments in Guayabo National Park and more. The longer program includes a second location. The Southern Caribbean, where you will visit the world's only Sloth Reserve, enjoy the ocean and a lobster dinner, and a Canopy/Zipline Tour in Gandoca-Manzanillo National Park.
