Tour Itinerary:
Day 1:
Depart from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, clearing Mexican customs in Reynosa, and head due west to the mining and agricultural center of Torreon, in the state of Coahuila. Your host hotel tonight is the Hotel Paraiso in the heart of the city.
Day 2:
This morning, you will cruise over to Chihuahua, where you'll overnight at the Hotel San Francisco. Chihuahua was founded in 1709 and is the center of a rich silver mining and ranching area. While we are in Chihuahua, we'll visit the baroque-style cathedral on the plaza, the 3 mile-long aqueduct built in 1754 and still in use, the governor's palace, federal palace and dungeon where Padre Hidalgo, the father of Mexico's independence, was held captive by the Spanish Royalists before his execution. As time permits, your group will visit the Pancho Villa House, now a museum, and other places of interest.
Day 3:
The reclining seat train, the Chihuahua al Pacifico, departs this morning for the trip through the farmland and orchards of a Mennonite colony before climbing into the spectacular Sierra Madres. The train ride will bring breathtaking views of rivers churning through deep gorges and white waterfalls. In mid-afternoon check into the rustic Hotel Cabanas del Divisadero. The remainder of the day (and most of tomorrow) is yours to take in the vast untouched beauty of this remote world-homeland of the Tarahumara Indians.

Day 4:
You're free today to enjoy and explore the area on foot or horseback. In the afternoon, board the train for the return to Chihuahua for a night at the downtown Hotel San Francisco.

Day 5:
There is time for some last minute sightseeing, and on to Torreon, then homeward through the high plains desert. You'll spend tonight at the beautiful Fiesta Inn in the mile-high city of Saltillo. Sightseeing in this interesting old city.
Day 6:
Up this morning for the last day of the tour. Sightseeing in Saltillo will include the cathedral, the main plaza, governor's palace, and a visit to a sarape factory. There will be time for some shopping on your own before boarding your motor coach. Saltillo, founded in 1575, once served as the capital of a huge territory which included Texas and the region up to the Colorado line. You'll cross the Rio Grande into Texas arriving in the Rio Grande Valley about 5:30 p.m.
