Mothership (charter boat) and Wilderness Lodge-based tours are for adventure travelers of varying interests and comfort levels. An experienced and very personable staff of 3 will cater each trip. The captain will transport everyone safely to the daily destination and will always share many stories of adventure. A talented cook will prepare 3 mouth-watering meals a day and always fill a mug with your favorite hot drink. Your guide will show you the wonders of Prince William Sound in a safe and enjoyable manner, with endless kayaking and hiking knowledge.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Meet at Pangaea for kayak instruction. The captain will give an onboard orientation before departing the harbor. Kayak to the face of Shoup Glacier.
Day 2: Wake up to a hot breakfast and dress for a day on the water. Paddle with the sea lions at Glacier Island. Hike up the island to view Columbia Glacier.
Day 3: Cruise to Cedar Bay and experience the more remote bays of Prince William Sound. An evening paddle to look for bears in the streams.
Day 4: Cruise up to Meares Glacier to witness one of the few advancing glaciers in Alaska, a great place to view sea otters and their pups.
Day 5: Cruise back to Columbia Glacier and paddle in the icebergs, a treat that may be the highlight of the week.
Day 6: Cruise back towards Valdez with a stop in Galena Bay for a paddle to view sea stars and a high population of bald eagles. Return to Valdez by early afternoon. You might consider staying an extra day to try one of our beginner ice climbing day tours!
