Enjoy this trip to 3 beautiful places of Indonesia! Bali, the famous enchanted flower island, is located just south of the equator.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Medan with flight ... We will fetch you from the airport. Overnight stay in Hotel Deli River situated just outside Medan in the middle of a tropical garden. Here you can rest after the long journey or make a walk in the neighborhood.

Day 2: Medan

In the morning city tour of Medan taking in the remaining Dutch, English, Chinese and Malay architecture. After this depart to Bohorok/Bukit Lawang, the orangutan rehabilitation centre in Gunung Leseur nature reservation. In this impressive nature reserve you can see the orangutans feeding in their natural environment. This involves a 45 minutes walk through the jungle to reach the feeding grounds of the orangutan. The sportive hiker can take exciting jungle trips here. However walkers must be fit and have suitable, large profile shoes. Overnight stay in Bukit Lawang.

Day 3: Bukit Lawang. Own programme. Overnight stay in Bukit Lawang.

Day 4: Bukit Lawang/Brastagi via Medan

En route stop at Sikulikap waterfall. In the afternoon you will arrive at the cool mountain resort of Brastagi. Here you can view two active volcanoes, Sibayak and Sinabung. Overnight stay in Brastagi.

Day 5: Brastagi/Samosir

After breakfast leave for Prapat at the famous Lake Toba. On the way stops at the Sipiso Piso waterfall, at the longhouse of King Purba and at pineapples, coffee and ginger plantations. In the afternoon you arrive in Prapat at Lake Toba. With a ferry boat you cross Lake Toba to Samosir Island. Overnight stay at Samosir. Your room has beautiful view directly on the lake side.

Day 6: Samosir

Tour to Tomok, Ambarita and Simanindo. On this beautiful island you can visit the typical Toba Batak villages: Tomok with its kings' tombs, Ambarita with its execution tables and in Simanindo you can see traditional Batak dances. Overnight stay at Samosir.

Day 7: Samosir/Sibolga

In the early morning you will cross the lake to Prapat from where you leave for Sibolga. Along the southern shores of Lake Toba with its lovely rice fields and huge Batak kings' graves you travel through the Toba highlands. During the trip you will pass hot sulphur springs at Sipoholon. In Tarutung, the centre of the Protestant Batak church, you turn towards the direction of Sibolga, the old harbor town on the Indian Ocean. By an amazing road with a thousand curves, straight through the Bukit Barisan ridge, you will arrive late in the afternoon in Sibolga, the town where time seems to stand still. Overnight stay at Poncan Gadang Island, 20 minutes by boat from Sibolga.

Day 8: Sibolga/Poncan Gadang

You can enjoy the heavenly surroundings on this Robinson Crusoe Island. You can also dive and snorkel over beautiful coral gardens. Diving equipment can be rented on the island. Overnight stay at Poncan Gadang.

Day 9: Sibolga/Bukittinggi

The route to Bukittingi in the Minangkabau highlands brings you again right through the Bukit Barisan mountain ridge of Sumatra. It is an impressive tour in which you drive through a wall of tropical rain forest. En route you pass the equator in the place Bonjol. In the afternoon we arrive in the cool and pleasant town of Bukittingi. Overnight stay in Bukittingi.

Day 10: Bukittinggi

City tour and excursions. In the morning there is a tour to the former Fort De Kock, situated on a strategic point on a high mountain. You then visit the market and the famous 'Karbouwengat' (Ngarai Sianok), the impressive canyon beside the city. Around noon we depart for the Minangkabau Palace in Pagaruyung where you will see various aspects of the matriarchal society of the Minangkabau.

Our next destination is the Harau nature reserve, famous for its huge rock formations and delightful butterflies. En route you pass Batusangkar where you will see historic rock inscriptions in Hindu-Indian Sanscrit language. In the evening we return to Bukittinggi via Lake Singkarak. Overnight stay in Bukittinggi.

Day 11: Bukittinggi/Maninjau

In the morning there is a tour to the former Fort De Kock, situated on a strategic point on a high mountain. You then visit the market and the famous 'Karbouwengat' (Ngarai Sianok), the impressive canyon beside the city. From there you proceed to Maninjau via the silver town of Kota Gadang on the other side of the Karbouwengat.

For the sportive hiker the one hour walk through the deep Karbouwengat to Kota Gadang is a must! From Kota Gadang you will be picked up by the car for departure to the mysterious lake Maninjau, descending to the lake via the road with forty four curves. The lake is clean and still and excellent for swimming. Overnight stay in Maninjau.

Day 12: Maninjau/Padang

Today you go to Padang via the beautiful Anai valley with the Anai waterfall. The harbor city of Padang on the Indian Ocean is the economic centre of West Sumatra. On arrival there is a city tour of Padang. Overnight stay in Padang.

Day 13: Padang/Bogor

In the morning transfer to the airport to catch your flight for Jakarta. On arrival in Soekarno Hatta International airport, our driver will meet you and you depart directly for the cool city of Bogor. Overnight stay in Bogor.

Day 14: Bogor/Bandung

In the morning a visit to the Botanical garden besides Istana Bogor. The Istana Bogor or Bogor Palace, was the official residence of the Dutch Governor General from 1870 till 1942. In the botanical garden you can find different types of plants from all over the world. After the visit to the Botanical Garden, you proceed to Bandung via the Puncak Pass and beautiful tea plantations. If possible you can make a visit to a tea factory. Overnight stay in Bandung.

Day 15: Bandung

Excursions to the impressive Tangkuban Prahu crater then proceed to Ciater hotspring. In the afternoon you can enjoy a performance of Pak Ujo's bambu angklung orchestra in Padasuka. This is a nice event with adults and children performing music and Sundanese folkdances. Overnight stay in the cool city of Bandung.

Day 16: Bandung/Baturaden via Cipanas waterfall and a traditional Sundanese village called Kampung Naga. Overnight stay in the mountain resort of Baturaden on the slopes of Slamat volcano.

Day 17: Baturaden/Jogjakarta

On the way stop at the Borobudur, the biggest Budha temple of Java. Overnight stay in Jogjakarta, the cultural of centre of Java.

Day 18: Jogjakarta

The city of Jogyakarta is situated between two Javanese mystical symbols, the Merapi volcano and the Indian ocean, home of Loro Gunung Kidul, Queen of the South Sea. Jogyakarta is the intellectual and cultural centre of Java. This day you make a cultural city tour starting with a visit to the Sultan palace built in 1755. After that proceed to the Tamansari water castle, bird market, the silver village Kota Gede and Batik home industry. Overnight stay in Jogjakarta.

Day 19: Jogjakarta. Own programme, car and driver is at your disposal. Overnight stay in Jogjakarta.

Day 20: Jogjakarta/Solo/Tretes

In the morning you will visit the Prambanan, the most beautiful Hindu temple of Indonesia. Around noon arrive in Solo. The Solo sultanate is older than Jogya's and residence of the Mataram Empire. In Solo you visit the Sultan's palaces and the flea market. In the afternoon arrive in the mountain resort Tretes. Overnight stay in Tretes.

Day 21: Tretes/Bromo. In the morning own programme in Tretes, here you can go to the local market. In the afternoon drive to Sukapura for overnight stay.

Day 22: Sukapura/Bromo excursion/Surabaya

Very early in the morning you leave for the famous Bromo volcano. On top of the Bromo you will have breathtaking views of the sunrise above the Semeru and Batok volcanos. A jacket is suggested since the temperature on top of the volcano can drop till 5 degrees celsius. After the Bromo experience you depart for Surabaya, the second city of Indonesia. Overnight stay in Surabaya.

Day 23: Surabaya

Transfer to the airport to catch your flight for Denpasar, Bali. In Denpasar you will be fetched from the airport and transferred to Ubud, the artist's village. From Ubud you can make all kinds of excursions. Bali has so much to offer, like hiking, cultural events, water sports; you can decide on the spot what you will do. Overnight stay in Ubud.

Day 24: Ubud. Own program. No transport. Overnight stay in Ubud.

Day 25: Ubud/Sanur

Today we transfer you to Sanur where you will stay for 3 nights in a hotel nicely situated at the beach side. Especially for water sport lovers in Sanur you can do almost everything.

Days 26 - 27: Sanur. Own programme. No transport. Overnight stay in Sanur.

Day 28: Sanur. Transfer to the airport for your flight to your next destination. End of your Sumatra, Java and Bali vacation.
