There are a number of options for short treks in the foothills to the north of Pokhara. Most of these variations will visit Ghandruk and Ghorepani. Poonhill is the best viewpoint for panoramic view of Annapurna Himalayan range, can be reached easily from Ghorepani. Ghandruk is a large traditional Gurung village while Ghorepani is the settlement below the famed vantage point of Poonhill. The itinerary suits for those who want to see and feel within short period of time, a beautiful panoramic mountain view from the elevation of 3210m along with some traditional villages and their culture.
Royal Chitwan National Park (932 sq. m.) includes a section of the Chure hills, the Rapti and the Narayani Rivers. The park is home to the only significant number of one-horned rhinoceroses surviving in Nepal, and to other endangered species such as the royal Bengal tiger, the Gangetic dolphin and the Gharial crocodile. Altogether there are more than 43 species of large mammals and over 450 species of birds. There are no human communities living in the park.
Brief Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, meet Encounters Nepal representative and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Guided sightseeing to the world heritage sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Patan. Stay overnight at Hotel.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara: AM: Fly for 25 minutes, transfer to Hotel.
Day 04: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1577 m.): Drive by Jeep/car for one hour, trek for 5 hours.
Day 05: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2855 m.): Trek for 6 hours.
Day 06: Ghorepani to Poon hill to Tadapani (2650 m.): Trek for 6 hours.
Day 07: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1960 m.): Trek for 3 hours.
Day 08: Ghandruk to Pokhara via Birethanti (1040 m.): Trek for 4 hours and drive by Jeep/car for one hour. Transfer to Hotel.
Day 09: Guided sightseeing to Devi's fall, Gupteshwor Cave, Buddhist Monastery and boating on Fewa Lake for one hour. Stay overnight at Hotel.
Day 10: Pokhara to Chitwan: AM: Drive by Jeep/car for five hours and transfer to Resort.
Day 11: Full day safari activities.
Day 12: Full day safari activities.
Day 13: Chitwan to Kathmandu: AM: Fly for 20 minutes, transfer to Hotel. PM: Shopping in the local market.
Day 14: Departure to International Airport for onward flight to home.
