Imagine a pristine glacial lake, the clear green expanse interrupted only by the grandeur of icebergs millimetres away from you. Close enough to touch, your sea kayak glides through the water crackling as you break through the thin layer of ice that formed over night. You are the first to break that virgin layer, you are an explorer forging your own path in the shadow of awe- inspiring mountains. Avalanches thunder down nearby, demanding respect. This is no exclusive trip to the desolate shores of Alaska or the deep south of Antarctica; this is 100% Kiwi. Travel to the Mt Cook National Park and explore the beauty and magnificence of the Mueller Glacial lake by sea kayak. This is no dream, this is an everyday reality with Glacier Lakes Sea Kayaking. You can explore some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand.

Glacier Sea Kayaking is one of the best sub-alpine experiences to try when in the Aoraki/Mount Cook area and the only Glacier Sea Kayaking in New Zealand. It is unique. A three - four hour return trip will get you and your camera up close and personal with amazing terrain and incredible scenery. You will glide through glacial bays and around icebergs - YES icebergs, in safe, stable double sea kayaks. Avalanches thunder off the glaciers of Mt Sefton in close view. The views of New Zealand's highest peak, Aoraki Mt Cook, are incredible. Then we park up on the Mueller glacier and take a stroll up to an area dotted with fresh water springs and plunge pools for the daring!. This is truly a magnificent trip in an area that very few people have access to so bring a camera, solid footwear and a sense of adventure. We can always arrange trips to suit. All adventures are dependent on mother nature (the weather) being kind. Wet weather options are available.

We meet at The Old Mountaineers' Cafe Bar and Restaurant next door to the DOC visitor centre at Aoraki Mt Cook.

You will need to bring the following: Sun hat, sun glasses, warm clothing (just in case there is a cool breeze), suncream, sturdy shoes, camera.
