On our tours, aimed at anyone with a love and appreciation of fine food and wine, you'll enjoy special visits to leading wine estates as well as boutique wineries. You'll meet the wine-makers, share their knowledge about the wine-making process and taste lots of wine!
During harvest time you may also have the chance to participate in the grape harvesting in the vineyard! Besides wine, extremely high on the agenda, food is also a major part of the trip. Every day you'll savor the superb delights of typical Italian and local cuisine in both well-known and out-of-the-way restaurants.
You'll stay in charming, hotels with wonderful service and exceptional atmosphere as they are based directly in the wine lands, surrounded by the beauty of a breathtaking landscape. The programs also include delightful side trips to sites of historical and cultural interest, castles, ancient and medieval towns as well as free time for shopping!
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1 - Thursday: Arrival at Udine/Cormons train station and transfer to your accommodation by private vehicle. Greeting by hosts and hotel check-in. Free time to explore the surroundings before enjoying dinner at your hotel or at a local restaurant. Overnight.
Day 2 - Friday: Breakfast. Morning: Guided excursion to the Brda wine district in nearby Slovenia. Visit to a prized winery & wine tasting with samplings of local delicacies. Afternoon: Tour continuation towards Gorizia, the only town in Italy divided by a border. It was the capital of an ancient Austro-Hungarian province and was a very important and wealthy city until the outbreak of World War I, which destroyed it almost completely. The heart of this beloved city on the Isonzo river is the majestic castle, located on a hill and surrounded by a medieval burgh. Stop at another winery in the Collio district before reaching your hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 - Saturday: Breakfast. Morning: Guided excursion to Trieste, the capital of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, set between the blue waters of its gulf, the green hills and the white rocks of the Carso plateau. Visit to a prized winery & wine tasting with samplings of local delicacies in the Carso wine district. Afternoon: Visit to the Miramare castle, the romantic residence of Maximilian from Hapsburg and Charlotte from Belgium. Stop at another winery producing DOC Carso wines before reaching your hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - Sunday: Breakfast. Hotel check-out, transfer to the train station and arrivederci!
