The highest peaks of the Dolomites were the theatre of battles among men during World War I, who are attempted to live together in peace today. The war trades offer an interesting insight into history and are characterized by ladders, bridges, trenches and galleries. A spectacular Dolomite scenery leads us through the mountains of Tofana, Marmolada, Cristallo e Tre Cimed di Lavaredo during the whole week.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Saturday – Arrival

We meet in our hotel at the Passo Giau above Cortina at 6 pm. Our guide brief you the procedure for the week and checks the equipment. Dinner.

Day 2: Sunday – Castelletto / Tofane

Ascent o Lagazuoi (2790) by cable car. Wonderful views to Civetta , Pelmo, Tofane , almost all peaks over 3000m of the Dolomites are visible! We walk to the deeply fissured rock of Castelletto (2450m). There we get an insight of the battles between Italians and Austrians Descent to Passo Falzarego . Transfer back to our inn. Walking hours approx. 5-6.

Day 3: Marmolada

Transfer with wonderful views to the bottom of the Marmolada , 1 hour of ascent by cable car. At the edge of the glacier we hike to the Cima Dodici (Sas de Mez) with military equipment. Exciting descent to Col de Bous (2350m), Gran Poz and back to the artificial lake of Fedaja.
Walking hours: approx. 5.

Day 4: Tuesday - Andraz / Col di Lana

Transfer to the ruin of Castle Andraz and to Castello (1720m). Ascent to Col di Lana (2465m), a place where hard battles have take place during the World War I. We continue our hike to Passo Valparola and enjoy fascinating views to the Dolomites of Ampezzo and Sesto during our whole walk. Walking hours: approx. 5.

Day 5: Wednesday - Croda da Lago

The jagged peaks of Croda dal Lago characterize the whole area of Passo Giau. This is exactly where we have set our tour for today. Through rock-screen we reach Valle Formin , go past the mountain lake Federà and enjoy afterwards easy walks on alpine meadows and through stone pine woods. Walking hours: approx. 5.

Day 6: Thursday - Monte Piana

Transfer to Lago di Misurina (1760m). Hike to Monte Piana. Visit of the open-air museum of war position, which have been made alive by a long work over years. Exciting views to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Monte Cristallo. Back to Misurina and Cortina, where you can have a coffee break and visit the interesting, geological museum.
Walking hours: approx. 4-5.

Day 7: Friday – Nuvolau / Cinque Torri

Easy rock steps lead us to the peak of Nuvolau (2575), where we have a break and wonderful views. Around the bizarre Cinque Torri we walk back to Passo Giau. A final celebration in our hotel. Walking hours: approx. 4,30.

Day 8: Saturday – Departure

After breakfast the tour is at its end.

Airfare is not included in the tour price.

- Guidance by our experienced hiking guides;
- 7 days halfboard;
- Transfers from / to hotel;
- Visit of the geological museum in Cortina;
- Transfers from / to station or airport.

Not included:

- Beverages and lunches;
