Kick Start this Enfield Motorcycle tour at leisure in Diu - known for its secluded beaches, seasoning of the motorcycle on the Asiatic lion's lair in Gir forest, kick the dust of the ride with the Wild ass in Rann of Kutch, village belles in caravans in their colourful clothes - touch the highest point of the Aravalli range at Mount Abu ride your motorcycle amidst the sand dunes & desert landscape of Rajasthan on the isolated road traffic conditions on this tour.
This motorcycle tour will take us through some fascinating areas of Western India, which are not really so popular on the average tourist circuit. We will start in Saurashtra and Kutch, which are endowed with a rich and diverse tribal culture. All these tribes wear beautiful embroidered clothes exquisite silver jewellery. They would remind you of the Gypsy people all over the world who are said to have migrated from here hundreds of years ago as slaves of Persian rulers.
Rajasthan gives us a lot of variety in terms of landscape. We travel through the Aravalli ranges into the vast deserts. Its a state famous for its tales of Chivalry and valour, grand forts and desert cattle fairs. We will have the opportunity of stopping at Pushkar , world famous for the popular camel festival and Cattle Fair.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Mumbai – Diu. Arrive Ex International flight At Mumbai and fly to Diu. Met by the Indian Shepherds Motorcycle team. Day At leisure for relaxation at the Nagoa Beach. Option - To come Early & have a few days Beach Holiday in Diu.
Day 2: On the bike in Diu. After a leisurely Breakfast get introduced to the Bullet. Drive the Enfield in Indian Traffic Conditions, & visit the near by areas for local sight seeing, along the various beautiful beaches of this area. Overnight Hotel.
Day 3: Diu - Gir - Junagarh (250 km). Ride Early morning from the Island to join the national highway and head toward the Gir lion Sanctuary. The Gir Lion Sanctuary is the natural habitat of the Asiatic Lion. Overnight Hotel at Junagarh - 60 Kms ahead of Gir wild life Sanctuary.
Day 4: Junagarh - Zainabad (350 km). Once seasoned with the Enfield & the traffic conditions, it will be good today to ride a long distance to catch up with the remoteness of the Little Rann of Kutch. The ride is a mixture of State and National highways hence there are going to be variations in the cruising speeds. Overnight Hotel in Zainabad.
Day 5: Drive In Rann Of Kutch (180 km). Zainabad, located on the periphery of the Little Rann of Kutch is 100 km from Ahmedabad, the capital of the state of Gujarat. It is the perfect entrance to the Little Rann of Kutch. Explore the area on your ever reliable Enfield Bullet. Overnight Hotel in Zainabad.
Day 6: Zainabad - Mount Abu (200 km). Mount Abu is both a summer & winter resort with shaded woods, sheltered temples & shrines. Situated at a height of 1200 m in the Aravalli hills, Mount Abu is a green oasis in the barren desert scape that is Rajasthan. It is the only hill station in the desert state of Rajasthan. Overnight Hotel.
Day 7: Mount Abu - Barmer (220 km). The desert town of Barmer is not really on the tourist route in terms of any monuments or temples. But it certainly gives a very interesting insight into the lifestyle of local craftspeople of Rajasthan, who are not as touched by the advent of outsiders. Overnight Hotel.
Day 8: Barmer - Jaisalmer - Sam ( 200 km). This ride through the Thar desert is spectacular. The city of Jaisalmer suddenly seems to rise out of the desert haze, a magnificent stretch of yellow sandstone. A walk or a ride through this beautiful city is an unforgettable experience. Ride on to The Sam sand dunes. Overnight stay at tentage camp.
Day 9: Sam - Jaisalmer - Jodhpur (310 km). We will set off after breakfast for Jaisalmer and ride on to Jodhpur via the ancient Osian temples. Osian is an oasis with numerous peacocks. Jodhpur is the third major city of the Thar Desert and completes the triangle alongwith Bikaner and Jaisalmer. Overnight Hotel.
Day 10: Jodhpur - Ajmer - Pushkar (250 km). The strategically located Ajmer has had its share of a turbulent and violent history. Today it is a great centre of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Muslims. Pushkar is famous for its annula cattle fair. At the time of the fair this area blossoms into gaiety and colour. There are Camel cart races and lots of fun and activity.
Day 11: At Leisure Pushkar Festival (If the dates are not with the Pushkar festival we have the option of taking a day ride to Jaipur).
Day 12: Ajmer - Udaipur (250 km). Ride to Udaipur, en route visiting the famous Ranakpur temples. Udaipur looms up like a vision amidst hills and mountains and set on the edge of three lakes. It is one of the most beautiful cities of Rajasthan with narrow streets, gardens, temples and palaces - every feature mirrored in the placid blue waters of Lake Pichola.
Day 13: Explore Town of Udaipur. Today is our last day with the Motorcycle. A beautiful journey through spectacular areas of western India will come to an end. Spend the morning exploring the streets of Udaipur.
Day 14: Udaipur - Mumbai Connecting flight Home. We have a whole day in Mumbai depending on your onward flight timings. Option to explore Mumbai in a pre booked taxi or to relax in a hotel for the day. Both can be arranged by us on your behalf.
