This Great White Shark Tour is designed for people who would like to experience the thrill of viewing the Great White Sharks but have limited time in which to do so. Once you have made your booking for the excursion, you will be contacted the night before, at your accommodation, to inform you on the weather conditions and whether the dive will proceed the next day. If the dive is on then the operator will arrange the time that you will be collected from your hotel.
Tour Itinerary
05:20 – 06:00
Courtesy pick up.
07:30
Tea and coffee served before boarding a 40ft Cat with a newly installed high A frame with seating for serious photographers or television crew.
08:00
35 min boat trip to Dyer Island.
09:00 – 14:00
Depending on the action, you will be able to view sharks for from above or below the water for about 5 hours. All diving gear is kept on board the boat. If you are a qualified diver and can produce your certification card than you may enter the cage on Scuba, it is also possible to snorkel in the cage and this is the preferred option as the bubbles from Scuba equipment may keep the sharks away. Viewing from the boat is also excellent.
15:00 – 17:00
Return to Gansbaai. You will be taken back to our farmhouse style dining room, to enjoy a home cooked lunch before being taken back to Cape Town.
On route back to Cape Town the driver will stop at Hermanus for whale watching in season, from July to November.
* The itinerary is only a guideline and will be followed as far as possible.
* Please dress warmly and bring something cool to shed into.
* Don't Forget: Towel, camera, costume, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen and seasickness pill the night before.
NB: We must bring to your attention that on occasions, it may be necessary to transport you to or from the boat by a 10-metre inflatable rubber duck. Although this journey is an added adventure to your day, it may not be suitable for those who suffer from serious back problems.
Please advise us if you suffer from back problems.
Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.
Due to prevailing weather conditions and shark activity on the day, viewing or diving is not always possible. There are no guarantees as we are in the hands of Mother Nature. In the case of a cancellation of the trip or if no sharks are sighted, you will be given a voucher for a second trip.
There is a R50 charge to cover food costs.
