The Parang La Trek (18,300 FT) to the high altitude pastureland is a challenging trek for physically fit trekking enthusiasts who are looking forward to be in remote areas to take up few demanding challenges. The trek shall be initiated in the alpine valleys of lower Himalayas and move onto the high altitudes of the few last inhabited villages of the region and high altitude pasturelands for grazing Yaks & Horses. With the Blue Himalayan Poppy Flower in blossom you will be scaling the high point above 18,000 Ft of Parang la (pass) to cross from the Lahaul - Spiti region of High Himalayas into the Changthang Sector of the Ladakh range & trek on the lake bed of High altitude lakes like Tsomoriri.

Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in the early morning hours & take connecting flight to Kullu. Arrive Manali by 10.30. Day at leisure in Manali to refresh from Jet lag - 2050 m. Overnight Hotel.
Day 2: Drive Manali - Chhatru (79 Kms /11670 ft / 3,560 m) - We reach Chhatru by lunchtime to make camp for the night. Overnight Camp.
Day 3: Drive Chhatru - Takcha / Losar (62 Kms/ 13,350 ft). Local houses add to the attraction of the wilderness. Camp at a large meadow at the base of the pass at Takcha. Overnight Camp.
Day 4: Drive Losar - Rangrik (52 Kms / 11,800 ft / 3,700 M) - We reach a large riverside campsite after Rangrik village where we make camp for the night.
Day 5: Rangrik - Kaza - Kibber Village - Trek to Dumla (4,300 M) - Camp at Dumla village.
Day 6: Dumla to Thaltak – approx. 3 hours - It is called a day for seasoning - an uphill climb with slow pace in the north eastern axis shall bring us close to the camp site by late afternoon. Overnight Camp.
Day 7: Thaltak to Tak-Chu (Base of Parang-La) 5575 m. We pace our selves while entering the gorge & descend into a nullah. As we follow the mountain stream in the distant horizon is the Parang la. Walk on ahead to reach the base camp of the Parang la, an eventful day. Overnight Camp.
Day 8: Trek over Parang la (18,300 ft) - Tallung Yangma - Tak -Chu - Ascend Parang la. Basic technical skill is required to proceed ahead on this trek avoiding the crevasses, though not in-depth mountaineering skills are required to reach Tallung Yangma. Overnight Camp.
Day 9: Trek Tallung Yangma - Datang Yongma (15,500 ft / 3 hrs). We shall be almost in remoteness all the day as we keep on moving ahead only sometime to be greeted by the herds & shepherds. Overnight Camp.
Day 10: Trek Datang Yongma - Racholamo (14,000 ft / 6-7 hrs) - The barren landscapes & the remoteness shall dominate the day in the high altitude trek today. Overnight Camp.
Day 11: Trek Racholamo - Norbu Sumdo - Chumik Shilde (14400 ft / 5-6 hrs) - We shall follow the Parang Chu River originating from the Parang la & pace in the rocky boulders in the high altitude pastures. Overnight Camp.
Day 12: Trek Chumik Shilde - Kiangdom (14800 ft / 3 hrs) - The trek is almost on flat ground of the shrunk lakebed thus carrying a lot of sand & watermarks on the high rise spires. Overnight Camp.
Day 13: Trek to Karzog. (15000 ft / 7 hrs) - An easy going walk on the lake bed of Tsomoriri fresh water lake, 38 Kms long. Overnight Camp.
Day 14: Drive to Leh (220 km). The day to pack up the rucksacks on the roof top of 4 x 4 drive jeeps & follow the Indus river bed to head on a 220 km drive to Leh.
Day 15: Day at leisure in Leh (Also contingency day / reserve day).
Day 16: Fly Delhi for Connecting Flight Home.
Please note: Average walking time per day is 5 - 6 hours. Average altitude (approximate)- Parang la (18,480 ft.), (Tso Moriri 15,000 ft.) / (Kibber -14,000 ft).
