This DH tour will feature 10 days of blow-your-mind downhill mountain biking in the Peruvian Andes. We will visit spectacular Inca sites and discover the way the Incas lived and interact with native people of the Peruvian Andes in their natural habitat. A portion of the tour cost will go towards development projects in the areas where we ride.
Day 1: Reception at the Airport & First Tour
The tour conductor will receive the travelers at the airport and transfer to a hotel located at Miraflores. On the afternoon, we will visit the Inca site of Pachacamac, located 40 Km. away from Lima. The bikes should be ready today for the next day’s downhill tours.
Day 2: DH & Free Ride at Quipan
This day we will start our Downhill trip going north east to the mountains to the village of Quipan at 3,550 masl. This is a full day trip. We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:30 AM and after almost 4 hours of driving we will arrive to the village of Quipan. This trail is almost DH but has little sections of uphill, less than 5%. The final section of the trail is a 10 Km. over an avalanche terrain. We will end our MTB trip around 6:00 PM on the location of Macas to then return to Lima in about 2 hours. The trip includes a snack at Quipan.
Day 3: DH at Marcahuasi Stone Forest Plateau
We will pick you up at your hotel at 7:30 AM to start our trip to one of the best DH’s all over the world. This trail is considered a high class DH. It starts at 4,000 masl on a stone forest plateau. Our first stop is the village of San Pedro de Casta at 3,150 masl, where we will start riding the horses up to the plateau located at 4,000 masl. After a snack and a brief tour at the plateau where we are going to see some zoomorphic and anthropomorphic figures carved on the rocks, we will start the DH ride that will take us down to the valley. We plan to return to Lima approximately at 6:00 PM. The trip includes a snack at Marcahuasi.
Day 4: Travel to Cuzco
Early in the morning we will pick you up at your hotel to take a flight to the city of Cuzco. The flight takes approximately one hour. After we establish at a centric hotel, we are going to visit impressive Inca sites on the surroundings of Cuzco. On the afternoon, after a light lunch we will do our first DH in Cuzco at the Yuncaypata trail where we can do it twice if we have enough time.
Day 5: Megavalanche DH Course
We will pick you up at your hotel at 7:30 AM to travel to the Sacred Valley and ride the Megavalanche course at the location of Ollantaytambo. We will have the rest of the afternoon to visit the Inca site of Ollantaytambo.
Day 6: Pisac DH Course
We will pick you up at your hotel at 7:30 AM to travel again to the Sacred Valley and ride the Pisac DH Course. We will have the rest of the afternoon to visit the Inca site of Pisac.
Day 7: DH at Uchuycuzco
This day we will experience one of the most impressive DH rides at Cuzco. We will pick you up very early in the morning at your hotel to start the driving to a mountain pass located at 4,200 masl. The trail we are going to follow is an Inca trail that connects Uchuycuzco with Cuzco. We are going to pass through this Inca site to finally reach the Urubamba River at the Sacred Valley. If we have enough time, we can ride again the Yuncaypata DH course.
Day 8: Moray, Maras & Saphi
This is an excellent day where we are going to discover more Inca sites and practice excellent DH courses. We will pick you up very early in the morning to start with a short visit to the village of Chincheros where there are Inca sites and local people selling their handcrafted products. Then we will continue our tour to the location of Moray where the Incas built a special lab for the agriculture. After a guided tour on Moray we will start our DH & Free Ride tour. We will pass through the village of Maras, the Inca salt mines of Maras and finally reach the Urubamba River at the Sacred Valley. On the afternoon we will return to Cuzco to make another DH course that crosses the Inca site of Saqsayhuaman to finally finish through very steep steps onto the Main Square of Cuzco.
Day 9: Free Day at Cuzco
This day is free to choose any activity. We recommend visiting Machu Picchu.
Day 10: Return to Lima & end of Trip
Early in the morning we will pick you up at your hotel to return to Lima and take the connection to your country of origin.
