We are the only performing arts tour operator based in Scotland. This means we can offer excellent value on all tours to and from Scotland. Since we're locally based, we can go and see the venues and accommodation that you'll be using, take photos and send them to you. We can also bring committee members to Scotland to see your destinations.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Friday - travel up to Edinburgh, dinner provided upon arrival, accommodation in a youth hostel with single rooms for group leaders and conductors.
Day 2: Saturday - morning walking tour of Edinburgh (a visit to Edinburgh castle can be included), afternoon rehearsal and concert.
Sunday: for choirs, we can arrange participation in a church service. A second concert can be included, or an outing to a professional concert, or even a country dance evening - or for groups aged over 18, a pub crawl of some of Edinburgh's quaint and welcoming hostelries!
Day 3: Monday - free time in Edinburgh to shop and explore independently, then return home.
For longer tours, you could choose to stay in one place, doing, say, 5 days in Edinburgh, or a week in Glasgow, with time to enjoy all the local color and sights. Alternatively, you could choose to spend several days roaming around Scotland in a tour bus, performing all over the Highlands and enjoying stunning scenery - Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Fort William and Oban, perhaps? A tour on this route would take you along the whole scenic length of Loch Ness.
Festivals and events:
These take place all over Scotland. The most prominent festival city is Edinburgh, the Festival Fringe and Edinburgh International Festival, it also hosts the Jazz and Blues Festival, and the Festival of British Youth Orchestras (organized by NAYO), at around the same time (the end of July and most of August).
Glasgow hosts a Jazz Festival in late June and early July and there are other festivals around the country, such as the Mendelssohn on Mull Music Festival (first week of July), the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival (last week of May), and Aberdeen International Youth Festival. These are usually open to amateur performing groups (though you'll need to provide a recording or video of some performances in order to be considered).
Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.
We're the only tour company offering this service to Fringe performers - and yet our prices are still extremely low.
The Scottish public is very appreciative of music and drama, and you can always be sure of a good audience here. Ticket proceeds are usually split with 75% going to the travelling group, and 25% going to Ensemble Tours to cover the cost of publicising the concerts - so not only will you get good audiences, you'll benefit financially as a result!
Please note that the prices given here are samples, not definite quotes, and usually include staying in youth hostels on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Full board can be provided for a little extra. All prices include accommodation, travel, venue hire, publicity for concerts and a local guide.
