On this cycle tour you will visit the Island of Fanø with its traditional villages and houses where many locals people still wear traditional costumes. After your Island visit you will cycle towards the Ringkøbing Fjord where you cycle along the narrow causeway to the town Ringkøbing. One of the highlights of the trip for young and old is the visit to Legoland on your return trip. Our biking vacation is graded as a level 2 as we feel the tour is suitable for beginners and also cyclists with some experience.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival to Esbjerg
After arrival you can pick up you bikes from the rental location located not far from the hotel and take the opportunity to explore this wonderful coastal town on bike.
Day 2: Esbjerg - Fanø 22 miles 35 km
After breakfast you ride to the wonderful island of Fanø via the ferry. Today you will take only enough items for 1 night as getting your luggage to the island is difficult. Your full luggage will meet you on the next night. Upon arrival to Fanø you will ride along the harbour on the cycling path to Sønderho. Sønderho is an idyllic fishing village where you can walk along the old, narrow streets with the beautiful thatched Fanø houses. You may have lunch at a cafe or at a hotel in Sønderho. Then go back, past the historic church to Nordby, where you stay the night.
Day 3: Esbjerg - Nymindegab 46 miles 75 km
Today you take the ferry back to Esbjerg. In Esbjerg you turn north past the Fiskernes Mindelund - The Fishermen’s Memorial Grave and to Gravlunden (the cemetery) where you find the graves of allied serviceman from the 2nd World War. You will continue north to Nymindegab which is on the edge of the Ringkøbing Fjord.
Day 4: Nymindegab - Ringkobing 30 miles 50 km
From Nymindegab you cycle through the harbour of Hvide Sande where you can experience a unique fishing environment. You will cycle with the Ringkøbing Fjord on your right and the North Sea on your left and the beautiful causeway which ends at the town of Ringkøbing. On arrival take the opportunity to take a stroll in the old streets down to tBillede Denmark Biking Vacationhe bay.
Day 5: Ringkøbing - Ølgod 27 miles 45 km
From Ringkøbing you are cycling inland to Ølgod. You will pass a couple of typical Danish Museums showing rural cultural life before reaching your destination.
Day 6: Olgod - Billund 25 miles 40 km
Today you will cycle on quiet country lanes and dedicated cycle ways towards Billund. The country side is rolling but with no steep hills. In Billund you can visit the famous Legoland Park either before reaching your hotel of after checking in.
Day 7: Billund - Esbjerg 42 miles 67 km
You journey today takes you south west back to the wonderful town of Esbjerg. The day is pretty long but the terrain is not too difficult. When you arrive take time to walk the old streets of the town and explore the museums and historic monuments.
Day 8: Your tour is complete after breakfast.
