Haute Route Saas Fee – Zermatt – Chamonix
The crossing of the Walliser Alps (from the Matterhorn to the Mont-Blanc) is still at the top of the list for many tour skiers. And it should!
Technically, the Haute-Route is not difficulte, but a good physical condition for 4 – 6 hours climb is necessary.
1. day
The guide meets the group at the Church Square in Saas Fee 1809m at 3 pm. Journey by mountain transport to Felskinn. Climb up to the Britannia hut 3030m, approx. 1-1½ hrs.
2. day
From the Britannia hut 3030 m climb up to the Adler pass 3789m, 4 ½ hours. Ski down to Zermatt, accommodation in a hotel.
3. day
From Zermatt 1620m with the cable-car to the Klein-Matterhorn 3820m. Climbing up to Breithorn 4165m, 3 Std. Ski down to Schwarzsee 2583m, Stafelalp 2200m and climb up to the Schönbiel Hut 2694m, 2 hours.
4. day
Schönbiel Hut 2694 m – Climb up to the Tête Blanche 3710m, 5 hours. Ski down then climb up to the Cabane de Bertol 3311m, ½ hour.
5. day
Cabane de Bertol 3311m – Ski down then climb up to the Col de l’Evêque 3392m, 4 ½ hours. Ski down and short climb to the Cabane des Vignettes 3158m, 1 hour.
6. day
Cabane des Vignettes 3158m – Ski down to the Otemma glacier – Climb up to the Fenêtre de Durand 2797m, 3 hours. Ski down to Glacier 1549m. Journey by bus to Courmayeur 1220m, approx. 1 hour., accommodation in a hotel.
7. day
Courmayeur 1226m – Journey by cable-car to the Pte Hellbronner 3462m. Ski down through the Vallée Blanche to Chamonix 1030m.
