Kushinagar is situated in Deoria district of eastern Uttar Pradesh. After a life dedicated to preaching mankind to alleviate their sufferings and the path of attaining salvation, Lord Buddha had died at Kushinagar on his way from Rajgir to Sravasti. The event is called Parinirvana in Buddhist parlance. His last words before death were that all composite things decay. Kushinagar has been a pilgrimage destination since many hundred years. It was also the capital of the kingdom of the Mallas, one of the 16 Janapadas during the ancient period. It may be mentioned that many of its stupas and viharas of the place date back to 230 BC-AD 413 when the prosperity of Kushinagar was at its peak.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Tokyo/Delhi - Meet/asst on arrival at Delhi international airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2: Delhi/Lucknow – Shatabdi Express - After early breakfast in the hotel transfer to Delhi railway station to board the train for Lucknow. Arrive Lucknow and transfer to hotel for lunch. Then drive to Sravasti, distance is 160 k.m. and it will take 04 hours. Sight seeing of Sravasti(Sehet-Mehet). Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 3: Sravasti/Lumbini - After breakfast drive to Lumbini. Lunch in the hotel. Sight seeing of Lumbini(kapilvastu the birth place of Lord Budha). Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 4: Lumbini/Kushinagar - After early b/f leave the hotel for Kushinagar. Lunch in the hotel and visit the ruins of Kushinagar Mahapari - Nirvana Temple (the places where the Lord Buddha left his material body), the Holy Maha-Pari-Nirvana Stupa built by Ashoka at the place where Lord Buddha was cremated. Diner and rest over night.

Day 5: Kushinagar/Patna - After early b/f (0430 hrs) leave the hotel (0530 hrs) for Patna (370 km with box lunch). Enroute visit Vaishali the earliest Democratic Republic State (according to the proven historical fact, this place was declared as a Democratic Republic State with secret ballot system even 300 years before the birth of Buddha). Lunch in a small Restaurant in Vaisali. After lunch visit the holy places (16 meters high Ashokan Pillar with single head Lioned Capitol, the Acro-Kunj- the mango grove where Lord Buddha stayed for a few years and declared his time of Maha-Pari-Nirvana. There is a ruined stupa of Buddha still there in the garden with the holy relics still inside. After visiting Vaisalli, drive to Patna / PataliPutra- the once second Royal Capital of the mighty Magadh Kingdom built by Ashoka the Great in the 3rd century B.C. Diner in the Patna. Hotel and rest overnight.

Day 6: Patna/Rajgir/Nalanda/Bodhgaya - After early b/f (0500 hrs) drive to Rajgir, the first capital of the mighty Magadh Empire (nobody knows the exact time when the city was built. But according to the historians, it is one of the oldest capital cities in India. This was also the first city Lord Buddha came across after left his own kingdom). On the way to Rajgir, visit the wonderful and un-comparable great ruins of Nalanda University. The first university of the world. Lunch in the Hotel Indo Hokke, Rajgir. After lunch visit the world famous Gridha-Kuta (Vulture peak), hills, where Lord Buddha lived for several years with four of his great disciples. The caves are still standing there remembering the great past. Visit Venu-Vana (the famous Bamboo Garden), where Lord Buddha took the first refuge after coming to Rajgir. After S/S drive to Bodhgaya, holiest of the holy places in the Buddhist world. Transfer to the hotel. Diner and rest overnight in the hotel.

Day 7: Bodhgaya/Varanasi - After breakfast sight seeing of bodhgaya. Visit the place where Lord got the enlightenment under the bodhi tree - Mahabodhi temple and visit other temple. After lunch drive to Varanasi. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 8: Varanasi/Delhi - Varanasi is situated on the Holy River Ganga, it is one of the holiest cities in India (both for Hindu and Buddhist). Early morning boat ride on Ganges river to see the 5000 year old traditional bath in the holy river ganges. Breakfast in the hotel. Later visit Sarnath - the deer park where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon (wheel of law) the five scholars.Later afte early lunch transfer to Varanasi airport to board the flight for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and directly transfer to Delhi international airport to board the flight for Tokyo.
