Walk through the soft Umbrian hills, passing olive groves and vineyards, visiting charming medieval towns like Panicale and Paciano, and enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Trasimeno and the “Oasi la Valle” nature reserve. We provide maps and directions so that you can enjoy the countryside at your own pace. Then, in the afternoon, we will bring you back to the Hotel, and you will have time to relax before a delicious dinner.
Day One Arrival at Villa di Monte Solare. Welcome drink. Presentation of the programme and dinner.
Day Two Today you walk directly to Lake Trasimeno. You start from the Villa di Monte Solare and go up the windy country gravel road to Castello dei Montali: enjoy an incredible view of the lake and all the islands. Your path brings you downhill towards the shores of Lake Trasimeno where you can visit the “Oasi la Valle” nature reserve. In this peaceful setting, perfect for bird watching, you can take a marvellous walk: a corner of heaven with many species of birds in the reeds. There is also a small museum where you can find out about the nature and ornithology of Lake Trasimeno. Transfer back to the hotel in the afternoon. Dinner in the hotel.
Day Three After breakfast you start directly from the Hotel Villa di Monte Solare. Walking up and down through olive groves, oak woods and vineyards until you reach the view that Pietro Vannucci “Il Perugino” has painted so often in the background of his paintings: the soft hills around Lake Trasimeno. You reach Panicale, a mediaeval jewel and a terrace above the Trasimeno Lake where you can admire Perugino’s fresco and the small 18th century theatre, one of the smallest theatres in Italy. If you like you can extend your tour to Paciano, another beautifully restored small village, listed among the most beautiful Borghi of Italy. In the afternoon transfer back to the Hotel and dinner in the evening.
Day Four Departure after breakfast.
