The last short stretch to the peak of Cape Point Peak one either walks or takes the rack railway. 120 steps crafted from natural stone lead to the old lighthouse on the Cape Point Peak, 250 metres above sea level. One can see the Cape of Good Hope in the west from there. A hiking trail of 1 hour length (one way) links the two capes. The Cape of Good Hope can also easily be reached by car.

The legendary Cape Point - key beacon for the early explorers and source of many myths and legends. Recognized globally for its extraordinarily rich, diverse and unique flora and fauna, this singular land formation - with its rugged cliffs, steep slopes and sandy flats - is a truly remarkable natural, scenic, historical, cultural and recreational asset locally, nationally and internationally.

Nowhere else in the world does an area of such spectacular beauty and such rich biodiversity exist almost within a metropolitan area - the thriving and cosmopolitan City of Cape Town. 15 minutes from the Guest House on the Beach.

Most visitors to Cape Point venture up a steep path to the Old lighthouse built in 1860, which was too often hidden in clouds so a newer one was built in 1914. Perched further down the cliffs, it’s the most powerful lighthouse in South Africa.
