Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Makassar – Toraja

After meeting service at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar we will get a transfer to our accommodation in Makassar. After check in you will visit with your guide the Old Fortress Rotterdam and Paoterethe Buginese “Pinisi” schooner sailing boats harbour. In the afternoon back to the hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Makassar – Toraja

After breakfast we will drive in approx 8 hours to Torajaland. We will make several photo stops and we will make time to stop in Pare Pare where you can take a lunch. In the afternoon check in Torajaland accommodation. In the end of the afternoon we will check in our hotel for overnight.

Day 3: Toraja Tour

After breakfast we will have the first Toraja tour. We will visit Lemo, Londa, Suaya, Makale and Makula. We will make time for lunch on our way at a local restaurant. After the lunch we will visit Kete Kesu. This is a famous village because, they have the burial caves, and you will see a lot of scales and coffins. You will go into the cave to discover the real Toraja Culture. You will discover the mysterious secrete of the Baby Trees in Suaya. We will try to visit a tradition unique Toraja funeral ceremony. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Torajaland Tour

After breakfast we will start with our second Torajaland tour. We will visit Marante, Naggala, Sadan and Palawa. The traditional village of Sadan is famous because the traditional weaving. The local women’s will demonstrate you how to weave beautiful blankets, shawls and handbags. In the afternoon we will plant some young baby trees in the Toraja Highlands, so we support our nature and keep the ecosystem well. We will make time for lunch in a local restraint. Overnight in the accommodation.

Day 5: Toraja – Mamasa Valley

Early after breakfast we will leave Torajaland and drive to the Mamasa Valley in the west part of South Sulawesi. Mamasa is a cool mountain resort with amazing hot springs and not explored well by tourism. We will make a lunch stop in Polewali; this place is a small Bugis port town. We will pass trough typical Buginese villages with their typical houses. Late in the afternoon we will arrive the Mamasa valley. Overnight in the accommodation.

Day 6: Mamasa Valley (Day tour)

After our breakfast we will start with our excursion around Mamasa. We will visit the 300 years old traditional Rante Buda an old colourful chief house, known as Banua Layuk (High House). We will visit the traditional village of Tawalian and Osango supposedly up to 200 years old. After we leave the village we will visit the Tedong-Tedong burial sites. In the afternoon we will return to our accommodation for overnight.

Day 7: Mamasa Valley - Makassar

Early after our breakfast we will check out and get our transfer to Hasanuddin Airport Makassar. You will go to you next destination…..

Return from Jakarta (CGK) or Denpasar (DPS) to Makassar (UPG) around 100 USD.
