Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival Hanoi. 10h00: Pick up at Noi Bai International Airport. Check in hotel in Hanoi. Services: Accommodation, Private car.

Day 2: Free day in Hanoi. An exploration of the 1,000 year old city Ha Noi. We will examine such culture-icons as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Van Mieu (1000 year old temple of literature-the first university in Viet Nam). Lunch. Head to War Museum, Museum of Ethnology. We'll then visit the Ha Noi Old Quarter and then 87 Ma May street (an ancient house).

Day 3: Hanoi - Halong (open tour). Early morning departure (7.00 am) for Ha Long Bay. On the way we'll stop for a while in Hai Duong Province. On arriving in Ha Long Bay we take a 4 hour boat trip (having lunch on boat) to investigate this world heritage listed region (visit Wooden Stakes and the Heaven Palace cave). Return to Ha Noi late afternoon.

Day 4: Mai Chau Ethnic Minority. Depart for Mai Chau. Lunch with a Thai family on arrival. In the afternoon we'll take a 6 kms walk around the Thai villages. Dinner and enjoy the traditional performance by Thai ladies. Overnight in a traditional stilt house.

Day 5: Blue H' Mong Minority. Visit Xa linh, trekking around villages. Lunch. Return to Ha Noi.

Day 6: Trip to Ancient Capital Hue. 12h50: Fly from Ha Noi to Hue (650 km). 13h50: Arrive Hue. Check in hotel. In the evening take a boat cruise on the perfume River and listening to traditional Vietnamese music. Overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Palaces and Royal Tombs of Hue. After breakfast we'll visit Khai Dinh and Tu Duc's tombs, Thien Mu pagoda by boat and the Old Citadel (heavily damaged during the intense fighting of the 1968 Tet offensive) by pedicab.

Day 8: Hue - Hoi An (140km, 08h00- 12h00). 8h00: Take the private car from Hue over the historically and visually spectacular Hai Van pass to Da Nang (where American troops made their first landing), on the way visiting Lang Co beach, Marble Mountain. Lunch by yourself on the way. Check in hotel for the night in Hoi An (an old seaport town little changed in 300 years that displays an amazing range of Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and European architecture).

Day 9: Day in Hoi An. Take a cyclo and visit Sa Huynh museum (~2000 years before present pre-metal culture), Phuoc Kien Pagoda, Tan Ky Ancient house and other ancient architecture from Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese traditions. After lunch explore this amazing town on your own time and manner.

Day 10: Da nang - Nha Trang. After breakfast. Take a private car to Da Nang railway station and then a train ride to Nha Trang at 10h23 (540 kms). Dinner and overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 11: Nha Trang Islands and Coral Reefs. After breakfast, head to the harbor and take a boat around a numerous of Island in the vicinity (Hon Mun, Hon Tam, Hon Mot). After lunch those who wish can go snorkeling and explore the coral reefs.

Day 12: Nha Trang - Saigon. After breakfast. Visit Ponaga Cham Tower, Hon Chong Promontory, Bao Dai Villas, Dam Market and the Oceanographic Institute. At 15h00 we'll head to the airport and catch a flight at 16h20 to Saigon arriving at around 17h30.

Day 13: Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Spend a full day examining (as time permits) some of the more important material cultural sites in Saigon including: Reunification Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post Office, Emperor Jade Pagoda, City Hall, War Crimes Museum, China Town, Binh Tay and Ben Thanh Markets, Giac Lam Pagoda, Thien Hau Temple.

Day 14: Cu Chi Tunnels (Half day). An exploration of the famous and absolutely amazing Cu Chi tunnels built during the French and American Wars in Vietnam. These tunnels run for over 75 miles and included sleeping quarters, hospitals, weapons dumps and so forth. They are now one of the most important and well-visited war relics in the country today (probably the best example of the material culture of war tourism anywhere in the world). Free in the afternoon.

Day 15: Saigon. Free day in Saigon. Lunch and Dinner by yourself.

Day 16: Mekong Delta. Leave for Cai Be in the early morning by bus. Take a boat to visit Cai Be floating market where locals are buying, selling and trading all manner of things from their boats. Walk around the area and look at traditional rice paper making and even rice crispier manufacture. After lunch explore village life in the delta. In the afternoon stop by the Vinh Long market and Bonsai gardens on the way back to Saigon.

Day 17: Leave Saigon. Free time until transfer to airport to leave Saigon. Terminate tour.
