Each Tourist that has discovered the “other side of Cape Town³ with us has found it to be an unforgettable experience. You will have a lasting and deeply personal impression of the people, culture, history and pace of township life. Your Tour Guide is a Xhosa who lives in the township therefore knows where to take you. Also hear his side of South African history and the struggle for freedom. Hear about his culture and traditions. Ask questions: you are safe and sound in his capable hands. You will be accompanied by a second guide. Our tour starts with the District Six Museum, you will learn the history of this once vibrant, multi-cultural area and of the inhuman forced removals of its people - to then view the district right under Table Mountain. We carry on to Gugulethu to the 7 Memorial and the Amy Biehl Memorial. We visit a creche, an Arts and Culture Centre, a shebeen which is an informal pub to taste a beer, and the market place where the meat is prepared on open fires. Approx. 1 million people live in Kayelitsha meaning “new home”. There is a viewing platform, you have to experience this yourself to believe it.
