Bale National Park is situated 500 KMs south of Addis Ababa. It is established on the high plateau of mountain, which includes the village of Dinshu to the north. The Park is 3000 sq. KMs and other wildlife in the park includes moutain Nyala, Red fox, Menelik’s bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, grey duicker, worthog, colobus monkey, Anubis baboon and a number of cats. Besides, it is the shelter of Ethiopia's series of 28 endemic birds. It is a wonderful location for mountain walks or horse trekking. Weyb River in one of its courses flows underground forming the Sof Omar Caves; the most spectacular and extensive underground cave in the world.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Drive south of Addis Ababa to Awassa passing through the magnificent Rift Valley region. On the way, observe all the crater lakes. Overnight at Awassa Wabe Shebelle Hotel.
Day 2: After having breakfast, drive to Bale National Park, via Shashemane and other smaller towns until you reach Bale Region late in the afternoon and an overnight stay at Goba Ras Hotel.
Day 3: After breakfast, one can enjoy driving, hiking and Photo safari activities in and around the National Park. Then drive back to the hotel late in the afternoon and overnight rest at Goba Ras Hotel.
Day 4: In the morning, drive to Sof Omar cave and observe the gorgeous bank of the Weyb River which flows through the cave. Then drive to Sodore resort area for an overnight at Sodore Filwoha Hotel.
Day 5: Return to Addis Ababa.
