Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: We leave at 12h00 Wintertime (13h00 Summertime) from our base along the Swakopriverbed past the big Anna trees and the ringing stones. With a bit of luck we will be able to see some of the very scarce desert wildlife. First overnight camp will be at the ringing stones on the edge of the countless valleys also called the large moon landscape.
Day 2: Early in the morning after a healthy breakfast, we will ride across to the Rössing Mountain, with plenty of interesting rock formations and the chance to find the odd semi precious stone. Here we will camp for the night with a fantastic view.
Day 3: Today we will have a fairy long ride during the morning to make it back into the sahdes of the riverbed by lunch, where the Khan river meets the Swakop river. If we are lucky, we will be able to see even bigger wildlife, such as Springbuck, Klipspringer, Ostrich, Baboons, Oryx, Jackal, etc. We will also be able to show you the Welwitschia, being one of the oldest plants of the world, some again around 1 500 years. Camp will be set up in the Riverbed.
Day 4: After breakfast we will ride during most of the morning into the heat of the day, to make it to Goanikontes, where we can treat our feet and horses in the rock ppl. Overnight stay either at Goanikontes or in the riverbed.
Day 5: On this day the horse ride will take us on the south side of the Swakop River past the burned mountain, through the moon landscape up to the edge of the dunes, where we will have our last night's camp. The mist that comes over the dunes from the sea, can make this a fairly chilli morning. By now the hikers will feel the hike in their legs and some will certainly be happy to see our base again at lunch.
