Besides the adrenaline of the rapids class III-IV, you will camp overnight in a small platform by the river, surrounded by the rich vegetation of the Mata Atlantica rainforest. Add to this some abseiling in magnificent surroundings and you will have a great two days adventure.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Early transfer from hotel in Florianopolis to the rafting base in Santo Amaro da Imperatriz. At 8:30 we depart the rafting base and drive uphill through the “Serra do Mar” to reach the river near the town of Angelina. At this point, the river leaves civilization behind as it enters a deep valley, with access only through the water.

The river has some level II, many very technical level III and one level IV-IV+ rapids. At some points we need to do portage of the boats. At one point we need to jump in the river from a 4-meter high platform. As the canyon narrows, the forest becomes closer and the rapids stronger and a lot of energy and teamwork is necessary.

At the end of the afternoon we arrive at the top of a 12-meter (36 feet) waterfall and the narrowest point in the canyon, where we will set up camp for the night, inside the Atlantic Rainforest.
The end of the day calls for a bonfire, dinner and an opportunity to talk about the day’s adventure. S, D.

Day 2: After breakfast we pack our equipment and begin the portage into the canyon. The boats are launched into the river using ropes to get them across the last eddy.

Once the boats are in, we walk through a forest trail (of medium to high difficulty at some points) to reach a cliff side (30-meter high) from where we will abseil down to the river. One by one we descend inside the canyon and finally jump the last two meters into the river. Now we are at the heart of the canyon. During the descent the views are magnificent: to one side the waterfall, to the other side the canyon opening into a section of narrow passages of flat water surrounded by huge boulders. We swim across the river to meet the boats. After a quick rest and snack, we continue down river through several rapids, some very technical.

Around mid-afternoon we leave the river behind and meet the ground staff that is waiting for us. Arrive late afternoon back at the base in Santo Amaro, and then transfer back to your hotel. B, S.
