Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour - Anglo Boer War. we depart Johannesburg and onto the Soutpansberg Mountains which rise out bushveld flatlands like an island. This is an area which is rich in Anglo Boer War history and seeps the essence of Africa. Our destination is our overnight stop which situated on the summit of the mountain with impressive views over the surrounding countryside. Our lodge is a tribute to the strong culture and heritage of the Venda people architecture and art. Overnight: Venda Village. Meals: Dinner.
Day 2: We have a full morning to appreciate this Wilderness and then embark on a short trip to Mapungubwe National Park located on the borders of Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa this area will eventually form part of a Trans-Frontier Conservation Area. Mapungubwe “an archaeological treasure" due to its cultural importance was awarded World Heritage status in 2003. The accommodation is just outside the park and is a luxury 4 star private game lodge. (all entrance fee and activities excluded).
Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour - Trans-Frontier Conservation. You spend 2 nights in this rugged setting scattered with giants of the botanical world - baobab trees – it is home to all the large mammals, together with predators, and endangered large mammals, such as the white and black and rhinoceros, as well as the wild dog, the continent’s flagship species. Mapungubwe until its demise at the end of the 13th century AD, was the most important inland settlement in the sub-continent extending over an area of about 30 000 sq kilometers about the size of modern day Swaziland. Overnight: Mapungubwe. Meals: Dinner.
Day 3: Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour - Mapungubwe. We start off the day at Mapungubwe with an informative guided tour to the archaeological diggings of the early settlement. From there we explore the park in search of wildlife, enjoying the marvelous vista and setting. An optional night drive with the park ranger in the evening can be organized. Overnight: Mapungubwe. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 4: Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour. After breakfast we head for the Limpopo and its sacred lakes region. We take the opportunity to explore the Ribolla Art route and hopefully meet and visit some of the homes/studios of local and internationally well-known artists.
Overnight: Shiluvari Lake Side Lodge. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.
Day 5: Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour - Venda Village. A full day of absorbing adventure by means of a local Venda guide who will take you on an discovery of pioneer history, and time-honored mystique and cultural legacy of the Venda people. This distinctive insight into the Venda culture is a authentic roots experience where nothing is manufactured for the "tourist". Overnight: Shiluvari Lake Side Lodge. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 6: We depart after breakfast and head towards Moholoholo Wildlife rehabilitation centre. Set in a picturesque setting at the foot of the Drakensberg escarpment in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Moholoholo is celebrated for the rehabilitation and care of forsaken, injured and poisoned wildlife.
Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour - Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. Wildlife is brought in from all corners of South Africa, and once well enough are re-introduced into their normal environments. Those creatures which unable to be returned to the wild due to the extent of their injuries, are looked after at the centre and are used to educate visitors, both from across South Africa and abroad.
Another important task of the centre is breeding. Many Endangered species have been successfully bred and released into the wild.
This Centre a non-profit organization set up in 1992 and has for 14 years been successful in getting the support of the public. Overnight: Moholoholo Forest Lodge. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.
Day 7: Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour. We Enter the Kruger Park in the far north and make our way south game viewing as we go to arrive at our camp in the late afternoon. Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour. Overnight: Umlani Bush camp. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.
Days 8 - 9: We enjoy two full days at Umlani Bush camp, enjoying the extra activities that are included. Limpopo and Kruger Park Tour - Umlani Bush camp. Overnight: Umlani Bush camp. Meals: Full Board.
Day 10: We depart the lowveld and the road that winds through the Drakensberg Mountains following an impressive route and finally reaching the escarpment where the Blyde River cuts a mighty Canyon through the countryside this canyon is supposed to be the 3rd largest in the world. Meandering along the top, the canyon offers breathtaking panoramic views look out for names such as God’s Window

There are also frequent interesting settlements, which have an interesting history dating back to the earliest settlers, hunters, and fortune seekers. Pilgrim’s Rest is such a settlement that today is a national monument but in its heydays, was the site of the biggest gold rush the world had witnessed at the time.
