Kuna Yala is the autonomous territory of the Kuna. They have succeeded in keeping their islands undisturbed by Western Tourism development and have kept their culture strong and proud. We work with the local sailas (chiefs) to secure special permission to paddle this unique archipelago.
Using our stable sea kayaks, we'll explore the islands and reefs west of the community of Tigre. This 6 day paddling journey will take us 60-80 miles through coral reefs in Kuna Yala that are among the best conserved in the BioGeographic Coast of the North West Atlantic. The vast expanses of forests along the coastal mountains make up the major portion of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor on the isthmus.
