Take a break from the holidays and venture North to the Upper Peninsula. Discover tranquil snowy white landscapes, hardy wildlife and the mysteries of “old man winter” and Mother Nature at work. The trip will begin in the warmth of Chamberlin’s Ole Forest Inn, overlooking Manistique Lake in Curtis. Here, all of your amenities will be provided, including a wonderful hot tub for those who enjoy the crisp night air under the northern lights. The Inn is a historic building, with cozy rooms above a restaurant, tavern, and sitting area with glowing fire place. It is truly a step back in time.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Your guide, will take you by snowshoe, one of oldest transportation inventions, to a destination along Lake Superior. The topography is rolling sand dunes formed during the Lake Nippissing era….many, many, moons ago.

Day 2: Be ready for excitement and lots of enthusiasm from your very own canine dogsled team provided by Wilderness Trail Outfitters. The mushers and dogs will take you on a energetic opportunity along the rolling hardwood forest trails. Dogsledding was once the primary mode of travel used by mail carriers and for those who utilized dogs in transport work. Expect to learn mushing techniques, eat an authentic UP pasty for lunch, and meet new furry friends who love to run.

Day 3: Includes a guided cross country skiing jaunt in Seney Wildlife Refuge, one of the largest refuges in the US. We'll also take a detour to Shingleton where we will visit Iverson's, a world famous traditional snowshoe business.
