Clients are met at Durban International Airport, and transferred to their B&B accommodation. Every morning we collect you to embark on the following tours and return you later each day.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1 (9 hours): An early start and off to the scenic 220 ha Stainbank Nature Reserve, with its diverse habitat of coastal forest and open grasslands, streams and water habitat, and a ‘healthy’ bird-list of some 200 species. We spend several hours walking around the Stainbank Reserve, followed by a visit to the Bluff Nature Reserve, then lunch, returning mid-afternoon.
Day 2 (8 hours): A visit to Tala game reserve (200 bird species) inland from Durban - great for birding and wildlife. After a picnic lunch in a typical ‘African Bushveld’ setting, we visit PheZulu Safari Park overlooking the Valley of 1000 Hills to watch some spectacular Zulu dancing and learn of the traditions and customs of the Zulu nation.
Day 3 (8-9 hours): We travel north of Durban to the Dlinza Forest at Eshowe: this has an Aerial Boardwalk through the indigenous forest canopy 10m above the forest floor and offers unusual sightings. One encounters many 'forest specials. Included in this full day trip is a visit to the Mlalazi Nature reserve, another KZN “birding hot-spot” with 300+ species.
Day 4 (5-6 hours): Down the KZN South Coast to the Vernon Crookes Nature Reserve, which has a bird-list of 300 species. A picnic lunch, and we return you mid-day to Durban International Airport.
This is a “Special Package” with unbeatable prices: our tariff includes 4 nights’ B&B accommodation and meals on a Dinner Bed Breakfast (DBB) rate, all picnic lunches & refreshments whilst on the day-tours, and all transport costs and admission fees and permits to all reserves and the other listed tourist attractions above. Longer or shorter tours based on the above can be arranged.”
Durban and its surrounds has so much to offer the overseas tourist (whether birders or not). We suggest the above tailor-made tour because it focuses primarily on birding hot-spots, but also offers a little more to the tourist as we travel through different areas. We are very flexible and open to suggestions or requests from clients wishing to visit other well-known KZN attractions such as the Ushaka Marine World, the Hluhluwe & Imfolozi Game Reserves, the Midlands Meander, and the Drakensberg Mountains.
Notes:
