Your Itinerary:
Our tour departs Cairns at 7.30am and progresses north along the Captain Cook Highway to the beautiful Mossman Gorge. Our driver / guide will take passengers for a 40 minute rainforest walk through this National Park. The tour continues to the Mossman Sugar Mill where passengers will be driven onto the property and around the Mill, whilst the driver explains the process of the sugar cane harvest and crushing. Passengers can see different sections of the Mill in operation. The crushing season operates from June to November.
Traveling further north, there is a stop at a pineapple plantation before continuing to the Daintree River where morning tea is provided before embarking on a one hour river cruise. The Daintree River is home to a diverse ecosystem and the cruise guide will help you spot some of the wildlife including birds, snakes, frogs, flying fox and in the cooler months, crocodiles can be seen lazing on the muddy banks.
After the cruise, passengers travel onto Daintree Village where they partake of a first class lunch with the option of Barramundi or steak with fresh salads and tropical fruits (including a 10 minute talk on our tropical fruits). Arrangements can be made for special diets.
After departing from the Daintree Teahouse there is time to browse through the village shops before returning to the award winning Rainforest Habitat, an Australian Wildlife Park near Port Douglas. Here, passengers may hand feed the kangaroos and see koalas and take a close look at a wide variety of bird life and many other Australian wild-life. We spend an hour exploring this fantastic facility.
Upon departing the Rainforest Habitat, the tour continues a short distance into the township of Port Douglas for a tour of the highlights of the town before stopping for free time at the Marina, with it's many beautiful boats and shops.
The journey back to Cairns is along the picturesque coastal route and return time is approximately 5.30pm. Our tour includes free pick-up and return to all accommodation. The vehicle is a small deluxe coach carrying a maximum of 21 passengers.
