Few Sydney siders realize there is a thriving oceanic park frequented by whales, dolphins, sharks and an amazing variety of seabirds right at their doorstep. Even fewer have ever experienced the wonder of being up close to these creatures in their natural ocean habitat.
During June and July, the Pacific Humpback Whales pass by Sydney on their northern migration up to the warmer waters off Queensland. Small pods of these majestic mammals can be seen breaching, diving, spurting water out their blow holes as they travel with the ocean currents. Common and bottle nose dolphins are often in close proximity while out in the deep waters off the continental shelf swim pilot, false killer whales and sperm whales.
