The Atherton Tablelands to the west of Cairns offers a variety of scenery, from rain forest to dry outback.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Rain forest ride to waterhole. Optional swim.
Day 2: Over Herberton Range, via spectacular lookout, to camp.
Day 3: Follow Stock Route from cattle droving days. Camp on large
river, possible swim.
Day 4: Into tin-mining country, magnificent mountain-top view.
Day 5: Into Irvine bank, pop.100, interesting museum.
Day 6: See Aboriginal Rock paintings, lookout, creek camp.
Day 7: Return to Wongabel Stables.
Notes: Camping equipment will be carried on a back-up vehicle. Breakfast and evening meals are cooked in camp by an expert caterer. Lunch is carried on your horse, along with your water bottle.
