Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival with Atlantic Airways from your destination to Vágar airport on the Faroe Islands. Collect your hire car at the airport and drive to your accommodation on Vágar. Rest of the day free to explore Vágar although we suggest you drive to the village of Břur to enjoy the view across to the islet "Tindhólm". Overnight stay on Vágar.
Day 2: On route north, we suggest a fascinating boat trip to the Vestmanna bird cliffs where you will sail under the cliffs and into some of the grottoes. The trip takes approx. 2 hours. Continue to the village of Tjřrnuvík surrounded by steep mountains. From here you will be able to see the unique rock formations of "Risin and Kellingin" off the northern tip of Eysturoy. Drive across the Atlantic Ocean Bridge to the village of Eiđi on Eysturoy where there is a fantastic landscape and a view of the Faroes highest mountain, Slćttaratindur (882m). Continue to the village of Gjógv for your overnight stay at the Hotel Gjáargarđ.
Day 3: Enjoy the day in Gjógv, renowned for its distinctive harbor. It is possible to take a 2 hour walking tour enabling you to see across to the bird cliffs, "Djúpini" and down into the beautiful valley "Ambadal" where there is a solitary stone called "Festirsteinur", which naturally has its own story. Overnight stay at the Hotel Gjáargarđ in Gjógv.
Day 4: Drive through the new sub-sea tunnel from the village of Leirvík to Klaksvík. The tunnel has been decorated with art by the well-known Faroese artist Tróndur Patursson. There are good opportunities to explore the other northern isles from Klaksvík. Kalsoy, Kunoy, Viđoy, Svínoy and Fugloy each have their own dramatic landscapes. Overnight stay in Klaksvík.
Day 5: On route to Tórshavn, we suggest a stop in Gřta to visit the new church, decorated with wonderful glass art. Visit the spinning mill that also has a gallery and you will have the opportunity to buy Faroese woolen goods. Overnight stay in Tórshavn.
Day 6: Use this day to visit the beautiful green island of Sandoy, which, in comparison with the other islands, is distinctive due to its mainly flat terrain. The island is rich in history, fantastic scenery and is a place where the traditional Faroese lifestyle can still be experienced. Coffee and cakes will be served in a private home. Take the local ferry "Teistin" from the ferry harbor Gamlarćtt to Sandoy and return to Tórshavn the same way for your overnight stay in Tórshavn.
Day 7: Before you leave Tórshavn, visit Kirkjubř, which is the ancient, historic and cultural center of the Faroes. Here you can see the picturesque "King’s farm" where the present farmer is the 17th generation in succession. See the unfinished Magnus Cathedral and the small medieval church of St.Olav. On arrival in Vágar, we suggest a walk to the beautiful waterfall "Břsdalafossur", the freestanding rock "Geituskoradrangur" and Vágar’s expansive, steep south coast. Overnight stay on Vágar.
Day 8: Deliver the hire car at the airport. Depart with Atlantic Airways to your destination.
