ITINERARY: Saturday-Saturday
DAY 1 · SATURDAY Arrival. Transport by shuttle service from the airport to accommodation in Tórshavn. Rest of the day at your own disposal. Overnight stay in Tórshavn.
DAY 2 · SUNDAY Tower at the end of the world. Morning trip to Nólsoy with the ferry Ritan, approx. 20 minutes sailing time. Sightseeing in the village of Nólsoy with a local guide. Opportunity to walk on own hand to Borðan, a trip that takes approx. 5 hours there and back. Here you will see the lighthouse that William Heinesen called the ‘tower at the end of the world’. A picnic lunch and dinner is included on Nólsoy. Overnight stay on Nólsoy.
DAY 3 · MONDAY From Nólsoy to Mykines. With the ferry Ritan, back to Tórshavn and then by helicopter to Mykines, which is the most westerly village in the Faroes. It is a fascinating place with many species of birds and the opportunity to see puffins up close. An evening meal is included. Overnight stay on Mykines.
DAY 4 · TUESDAY Mykineshólmur. Walking tour on your own to Mykineshólm. This exciting walk will take you to the extreme edge of the Faroe Islands, giving you many fabulous views on the way. It takes approx. 4 hours there and back. The walk takes you over the bridge between Mykines and Mykineshólm where you can see gannets that only breed here. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed on route. The walk is without a guide, although it is possible to request one at an extra cost. Picnic lunch and evening meal are included, overnight stay on Mykines.
DAY 5 · WEDNESDAY Viking island Skúvoy. By helicopter to Skúvoy, where the famous Viking chief Sigmund Brestisson built the first Christian church on the Faroes. On arrival, lunch will be served in a local home, after which we suggest a walk to Fagradal taking approx. 2 hours there and back. Evening meal included and an overnight stay on Skúvoy.
DAY 6 · THURSDAY The green island of Sandoy. With the local ferry from Skúvoy to Sandoy. The day will be spent in the village of Sand, which is said to have been inhabited since the Viking Age. Archaeological excavations show that the village is one of the oldest on the Faroes. A picnic lunch is eaten on route before continuing with the local bus to the village of Skopun, where the ferry Teistin will sail to Gamlarætt. The local bus will then drive back to Tórshavn for an overnight stay.
DAY 7 · FRIDAY Tórshavn. The day is free to explore Tórshavn, perhaps taking in a museum, art gallery or the Nordic House.
A walk through the old part of the town called Tinganes and Reyn is recommended. See page 10-12 for optional extra tours. Overnight stay in Tórshavn.
DAY 8 · SATURDAY Shuttle service from overnight accommodation to Vágar airport and departure.
