We fly further: You see more. Our flight is unique as it includes a flight over the glaciers with views of Mount Aspiring. Taking off you see the vast expanse of Lake Wakatipu spread out before you. Glenorchy is at the head of the lake and from there the mountains rise row upon row dissected by large valleys. It is only from the air that you appreciate the rugged features and expanse of this untouched world.
You fly past huge mountain outcrops and descend past the Tutoko Glacier which sweeps down from Mount Tutoko. Within minutes the scenery changes to reveal the temperate rain forests of Milford Sound. Milford Sound, actually a fjord, is dominated by Mitre Peak which rises a mile directly from the water. The Glenorchy Air flight path offers you the opportunity to experience not only waterfalls and lakes but also the snowfields and glaciers-more of thee amazing mountain scenery that New Zealand has to offer.
We fly north from Milford over the Olivine ice plateau, the Whitebourne, Dart and Andy Glaciers. You have magnificent views of Mount Aspiring. We then fly over the historic area of Skippers Canyon and past Coronet Peak o land at Queenstown. All our flights to Milford Sound can depart from and/or return to Queenstown or Glenorchy.
