The Abrolhos Islands consist of 3 distinct groups made up of reef system. Southern Group, Easter Group and Wallabi's Group with North Island a single island the most Northern and separate point. In all there are 122 individual islands.

Many of the names associated with the Western Australian coast line and the Abrolhos Islands reflect the long history of European exploration and Dutch trading that plied the spice island routes during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries between Western Europe and Spice Islands, now Indonesia. Amongst the history of the shipwrecks is the Guano mining days. Guano is a fertilizer derived from bird excreta, and was mined on a commercial scale from the late 1800's until early 1900's when chemical fertilizer was introduced.

This tour offers a bird's eye view of a spectacular eco-system that is rich in history and beauty. Its remoteness is of mystery and wonder. You will fly over the lagoons of Southern Group Islands, pearl farms, fishermen's huts and jetties, shipwrecks (including the Zeewych 1727, the Winsor 1908) and the rugged islands and its surrounding reefs.

Following from there you are then over the next Island Group which is known as Easter Group (or Rat Island Group). There you will see the fishermen shacks and how mining has left an everlasting impression on the islands. You will see islands where over 100 birds species and seals bread. Further on is Wallabi Group which is where the Batavia sank in 1629. You will fly over what is said to be the first Building in Australia which the Dutch built. Some of the islands are quite large and the reef is surrounding. You fly over Beacon Island where the Survivors first came to settle and the mutiny was born. Out to the south of Beacon is where the Batavia was wrecked and made a mark in the reef. From there you return home to ponder on the amazing scenery you have just encountered
