Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Leave Durban this morning and travel along the Strelitzia Coast, past beautiful holiday resorts with fine sandy beaches to Port Shepstone, where in 1882, 246 Norwegian Settlers arrived. From there it is a short distance to the Oribi National Park and the famous Hanging Rock, where you will have one of the most fascinating views in South Africa, out above the Umzimkulu River. Afterwards you will travel through the real Africa, through villages of Flagstaff and Lusikisiki and arrive in Port St.Johns, where you will stay overnight in romantic bungalows on the Umzimvubu River overnight.
Day 2: After breakfast you travel to Umtata, along the characteristic, original villages with their round houses on the slopes of the many hills in Pondoland. In Umtata you can visit the Mandela Museum and from there travel to Coffee Bay where you arrive in the early afternoon with still enough time on hand for a relaxing walk along the beach.
Day 3: This morning you visit the famous Hole in the Wall and from there travel along soft flowing hills to East London, the only river harbor in South Africa. Continue through the 'Frontier Country' where just over 100 years ago heavy battles between a united force of the Settlers and the British Soldiers against the different tribes of the Xhosa Nation have been fought. You will arrive at your Game Park with the 'Big 5' where, after a short refreshment, start your first Game Drive with an experienced ranger. You stay over night in the Game Park.
Day 4: After the possibility of an early Game Drive we carry on to the 'Addo Elephant National Park' where, with just a little luck, will see and smell many of the approximately 400 Elephants from only a few yards away. It is also possible to view some Buffalos, Lions, Leopards and Rhinos. You arrive in Port Elizabeth in the late afternoon where you book into your Hotel. This tour can also be connected onto 'The Garden Route', and 'Fossil Tour'. It is also possible to do this tour from Port Elizabeth to Durban.
