Covered by rain forest and spared from auto traffic, the island still harbors many spots of untouched nature. As travel extension is further offered a few days in the small colonial town of Paraty, whose marvelous preserved historical center invites to sauntering. The place is the starting point for numerous trips to islands and beaches.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: São Paulo/Ilha Grande. Cordially welcome in São Paulo. After reception at the airport, the trip continues to Ilha Grande, where we arrive in the late afternoon at the main place of Vila do Abraão.
Day 2: Ilha Grande - Hike to Lopes Mendes. After breakfast we leave for our first hike. Passing by the "Palmas" and "Mangues" beaches we arrive after about 2 hours at the dream beach of "Lopes Mendes" (medium grade of difficulty), whose clear white sand and crystal clear water invite for a bath. By early afternoon we return to Vila do Abraão. Overnight stay.
Day 3: Ilha Grande - Hike to Saco do Céu. Today the program schedules a hike to "Saco do Céu". This is a wind protected bay with numerous beautiful beaches. The hike (per route about 2.1/2 – 3 hours, light-medium grade of difficulty) is made through the Mata Atlantica Rain Forest, always above the coast. Return to Vila do Abraão by late afternoon. Overnight stay.
Day 4: Ilha Grande – Hike to Dois Rios. After breakfast we leave for "Vila Dois Rios" (per route about 2.1/2 – 3 hours, light-medium grade of difficulty). That is where the prison was until 1993, of which nowadays only remain the ruins. Besides this attraction we are awaited by another dream beach which offers the opportunity of taking a refreshing bath and relax somewhat before the time comes for returning to Vila do Abraão.
Day 5: Ilha Grande/Angra dos Reis/Paraty. After breakfast occurs the return trip by ferryboat to Angra dos Reis. From there we proceed by car to the about 100km distant Paraty, a small historical colonial town. During the afternoon we make a little city tour through the historical center and you have the possibility of strolling by yourself through the numerous galleries and handicraft stores.
Day 6: Paraty. Today the program provides a boat tour to the outlying islands and their beaches. Besides sun bathing on deck it is also possible to swim and snorkel. Return by late afternoon. Overnight stay.
Day 7: Paraty/São Paulo. After breakfast we leave for Trindade, a small fishermen village near Paraty. The beaches there pertain no doubt to the "dream beach" category and also the natural swimming pool with its singular beauty invites for bathing. The return trip to São Paulo is made around noon.
