Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Leave Cape Town due south-east along Table Mountain to Muizenberg to get a glimpse of the Cape Flats and the second largest township in South Africa, from above. Cross east on the longest beach around, to the highest dune atop False Bay. Enter Stellenbosch via the famous Cape "Champagne" (MCC) or a world-awarded Brandy distillery for the first cellar visit and full tasting. To the village square to explore Cape vernicular architecture and small streets. Depart to a most renown 'Pinotage' maker and onto another breathtaking vineyard and c1685 cellar where tradition subsists. Follow the path of the French Protestants of 1685-88 to Franschhoek, via olive plantations with its olive press and through the original mission station and freed-slave village. Next stop, a great dairy farm and its cheesery visit followed by a well-deserved Cheese and Wine Pairing Presentation Lunch in the heart of Franschhoek valley, at an historical vineyard. Meet the cellar master and/or wine maker when available. Continue along the cirque to the village, its quaint central street, visit the Franschoek Museum and its standing Franco/South African Huguenot Exhibits and up the old elephant path where a unique 'Champagne' is hand-crafted. Return via Nelson Mandela's last prison and gorgeous Freedom Hill Wine Estate, when time permits.
