Tour itinerary:
Day 1, Friday: Depart the UK and fly to Kiruna via Stockholm. At Kiruna you will be met by your guide and taken to Mushers Lodge where you will be kitted out with Arctic clothes to keep you toasty during your snowy adventure. Now its time for you to meet the dogs! You will be given a short tour round the kennels, and you will have the chance to ask any questions about what to expect over the coming days. You will then get the chance to explore the snowy terrain of Kiruna by snowmobile whilst heading towards Wilderness Lodge, located beside a frozen lake, where you will overnight. There will be a chance for a pre-dinner sauna and hopefully an after-dinner view of the Northern Lights. Includes: (D).
Day 2, Saturday: After breakfast you will snowmobile back to Mushers Lodge, where you will get the chance to experience a more traditional mode of transport. You will have a short instruction on how to drive a dog sled team before you take off with your very own team. Then you will have a chance to be a musher, and can marvel at this incredible mode of transport, as the dogs yelp and bark their way across the frozen tundra. After stopping for lunch you will then head back to Mushers Lodge to be transferred to in the world famous Ice Hotel. After a guided tour of the ice rooms and an explanation of how it all works, you will kip down in your ice room – the bed is made of solid ice, but amazingly you stay warm through the night! Day 3, Sunday: After a welcome hot drink in bed and a hearty breakfast, it’s time to pack up and head back to the airport for your journey home, full of fond memories of your experiences in the Arctic Circle. Includes: (B).
