The "Seewinkel" is one of the most fascinating nature reserves in Europe. You bike along the shore of the Neusiedlersee, which is lined with majestiv reeds. The national park offers a manifold and unique flora and fauna, and houses the largest bird sanctuary in Europe.

Day 1:
VIENNA:
Individual arrival and welcome
Day 2:
VIENNA - PETRONELL/BAD DEUTSCH ALTENBURG: 35 miles
You bike through the idyllic meadows along the Danube River, passing the castles of Orth and Eckartsau (baroque hunting castle of Prince Eugene) to Petronell/Carnuntum, the site of significant Romain excavations.

Day 3:
PETRONELL/BAD DEUTSCHALTENBURG - JOIS: 22 miles
Passing through vineyards and the "Parndorfer" heath you reach the shore of Lake Neusiedl. Try one of the many wine taverns.

Day 4:
JOIS - ILLMITZ: 19 miles
Today you bike along the banks of Lake Neusiedl until you reach Illmitz, the heart of the "Seewinkel" where some stork couples spend their summer every year.

Day 5:
ILLMITZ: 31 or 15 miles
You can now bike through Hungarian territory, passing the picturesque farming villages of Fertöd (baroque castle of the Esterhazy family) and Fertöböz (beautiful view over the southern part of the lake). Returning to Austria you reach the towns Mörbisch and Rust. From here you take the ferry (not included) back to Illmitz.
Or just explore the nature reserve "Lange Lacke".

Day 6:
ILLMITZ - JOIS: 24 miles
By ferry to Mörbisch (not included) and continue along the reed-covered lake shore; you pass the towns of Rust, Purbach and Breitenbrunn till you return to Jois.

JOIS:Individual departure (train to Vienna every hour) or extension.
