Who says you can't have it all. Sail with us aboard a 110' private yacht as we explore the crystal blue waters, historic ruins, and whitewashed villages of the Greek Islands. Almost daily options for both bicycling and walking mean that you can choose the itinerary and activity that most interest you each day*, while enjoying the warm hospitality and culinary delights of our world-class Greek crew each night! Seven nights aboard ship also mean there is little need to pack and unpack, so you get to spend more time doing what you enjoy most - hiking and biking. We won't say that this is the perfect vacation, but it's pretty darn close.

*Important Note! This tour runs concurrently as both a bike tour and a walking tour. Please notify us at the time you reserve space on this tour if you are interested in bicycling. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee bicycle availability for you!

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive today in Athens, where our hotel is located near the heart of the old city center. Take a stroll through the Plaka or visit the Acropolis. We'll gather this evening for introductions, a glass of ouzo, and a special introductory dinner.
(D)

Day 2:
After breakfast, we'll shuttle north to the island of Evia, where we'll check into our hotel and enjoy a buffet lunch together. Those who are biking will venture into the surrounding hills, while walkers will head out to explore the archeological remains of ancient Eretria. Dinner on your own this evening. Biking option: 10-40 km (6-25 miles). Walking option: 2 hours.
(B)

Day 3:
A peaceful ride through olive groves and the ruins of Venetian towers awaits cyclists today as we shuttle to the other side of Evia and then pedal back. Those walking will visit the 1,200-year-old Orthodox monastery of Saint Nicholas and its fascinating frescoes before continuing on through olive groves back to our hotel. Dinner together. Biking option: 53 km (33 miles). Walking option: 4 hours.
(B) (D)

Day 4:
Cyclists will enjoy one of the most beautiful rides of the trip today, as we continue south to Nea Stira. Evia narrows to only six kilometers wide at one point, and both the cyclists and the walkers will enjoy spectacular views of both the Aegean Sea and the Gulf of Petalion. Walkers will start at the island's narrowest point and proceed through numerous small villages to the chapel of St George, where a boat will shuttle us on to our hotel. Dinner together. Biking option: 64 km (40 miles). Walking option: 3-5 hours.
(B) (D)

Day 5:
Cyclists will enjoy a 30 km ride to Marmari this morning, while walkers shuttle south to walk the coastal trail for great views of the Petalii Islands. Former King Constantine has a residence on the islands, as do Picasso's children. After re- assembling in Marmari, we'll catch the afternoon ferry to Rafina and then continue on to Tinos, where we will board our yacht. Dinner together. Biking option: 30 km (19 miles). Walking option: 2 hours.
(B) (D)

Day 6:
We set sail this morning for Delos - one of the most sacred places in the Mediterranean. We'll spend about 3 hours walking on this intriguing island, where according to legend the gods Apollo and Artemis were born, and then return to the boat for lunch together as we continue on to Ios. Once there, cyclists can enjoy a short spin on the island, while walkers will hike around scenic Gialos bay and explore the main town of Ios. Biking option: 25 km (16 miles). Walking option: 4-5 hours.
(B) (L)

Day 7:
The fabled island of Santorini - considered by many scholars to be the famed Atlantis - is our destination today. While Santorini is not accessible by bicycle, we have a great day planned. Our first stop is the ruins of Akrotiri, whose discovery in the 1960's has been compared to King Tut's tomb in terms of archeological significance. Then, we'll hike the island's volcanic rim from ancient Thira to Ia. Dinner together. Biking option: none. Walking option: 3-4 hours.
(B) (D)

Day 8:
Today we sail for Naxos, the largest of the Cyclades Islands. After lunch aboard the boat, cyclists can ride to one of the nearby beaches for a swim, while walkers will explore the winding alleys which lead from town up to a Venetian castle and watch the sunset from the unfinished temple to Apollo that dominates the harbor's entrance. Biking option: 15 km (9 miles) or more. Walking option: 1-2 hours.
(B) (D)

Day 9:
Olive groves and picturesque whitewashed villages accompany both cyclists and walkers today, as we remain on Naxos for a morning of exploration. Cyclists can choose between two different rides, while walkers will shuttle to the center of the island for a walk to a crumbling Venetian fort. Back aboard the yacht this afternoon, we'll sail for nearby Paros, where you can enjoy a stroll around the harbor and an ouzo before dinner together. Biking option: 32-90 km (20-56 miles). Walking option: 3-4 hours.
(B) (D)

Day 10:
The marble of Paros was so prized by the Greeks and Romans that the stone used in many classical masterpieces was quarried there. Cyclists will enjoy a ride around the perimeter of the island today, while walkers will visit the ancient marble quarries of Amaranthi and the island's former capital in Lefkas. Later this afternoon, we'll sail for Mykonos, where we will have dinner together. Biking option: 35-55 km ( 22-34 miles). Walking option: 3-5 hours.
(B) (D)

Day 11:
Today is a leisurely day to spend on Mykonos. You can choose to relax with a good book or to join us for a walk around the coast from Platy Gialos to the famous beaches of Paradise and Super Paradise. Mid- afternoon, we'll set sail for our return to Tinos, where we'll be entertained with a special Captain's dinner tonight. Biking option: none. Walking option: 1-2 hours.
(D)

Day 12:
After breakfast together, we say goodbye to our Greek Island odyssey. We'll offer a shuttle back to Athens for those needing to return home. Or maybe you'd like to explore some more of the islands on your own? Whatever you choose, Kalo Taxidi!
