This is one of the most exciting tours to Mongolia that is offered! This tour includes the Gobi Desert, Karakhorum (the ancient capital of Chingiis Khan), Lake Huvsgal and the fascinating Nadaam Festival! We will be going through Beijing and so we will also go to the Great Wall (which was built to keep the Mongols from conqueting China!). You will be able to ride horses, camels, jeeps- walk through dinosaur fossils- you will see the beautiful Mongolian landscapes, 9th century stone carvings, the contortionists and royal moving gers - you will hear their fascinating language and music (including the Tuvan Throat Singers). This will be an incredible (but safe) Indiana Jones Adventure!

Note: This tour can be taken at a different time but will not include the Nadaam Festival.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
July 2 We leave the LAX in the mid-afternoon and begin our exciting grand adventure to Mongolia. (note: We can help you with you with a connection to LAX if you want).

Day 2:
July 3 We arrive Beijing in the evening and are transferred to our hotel. Get a good night's sleep because because tomorrow we are going to the Great Wall of China!

Day 3:
July 4 Beijing - We will go to the Great Wall of China! It is thrilling to be standing on this incredible structure which is a piece of history!

Day 4:
July 5 After a morning tour or TianAnmen Square and the Forbidden City, we will take the plane to UlaanBaatar, the capital of Mongolia. On the way to the hotel we will stop at the Chingiis Khan campground. This ger camp has many interesting sights including giant gers on wheeled platforms and replicas of ancient weapons, etc. We will then be transferred to the hotel.

Day 5:
July 6 We will take you on a city tour, SukhBaatar Square, the Art Museum and the Gandan Monastery, with its 80-foot statue of Budhha made of precious metals.

Evening option: the Tumen Enkh National performers.

Day 6:
July 7 We will fly to beautiful Lake Huvsgal and the surrounding mountains. Here you can ride horses, walk, and enjoy the beautiful sunset. Tonight we will sleep in gers.

Day 7:
July 8-10 We will continue to enjoy the area, July 8 - We will take a short trip to Hatgal, the local Some (city). Then we will fly onto the Gobi desert. Upon arriving at Dalzangadad, we will transfer to the ger camp and see some of the Gobi desert's wonders! We will stay in the ger camp.

Day 8:
July 9 We will drive to the Gobi desert where we will spend these nights in a ger campground. On July 10th, will see many of the fascinating wonders of the Gobi, like the Flaming Cliffs, the Bogd Tsav, dinosaur fossils, etc. We will fly back to UlaanBataar and be transfered to our hotel where the rest of the day is free.

Day 9:
July 11 The most festive time to be in Mongolia is during the Nadaam Festival, which is July 11-12. We will attend the festival opening ceremonies in the Nadaam stadium, complete with incredible costumes, horses and fanfare. This includes a competition of the three National sports, horse-racing, archery and wrestling.

Day 10:
July 12 Today we will continue to experience the Nadaam Festival, but we will also go to the Buddhist Museum, the Bogd Khan Winter and Summer Palace.

Day 11:
July 13 For the last chapter of our Grand Mongolian Tour, we will take you to Karakhorum, the ancient capital of Chinggis Khan! There is not much left of the city, as the buildings were mostly wood, but the ErDenn Zuu Monastery, is built right on the same ground. There are many fascinating buildings and ample Buddhist artwork. We will also see some of the 9th century stone tortoises that were built around the ancient city for protection. Tonight we will stay at a very nice local ger camp.

Day 12:
July 14 After breakfast, we will return to UlaanBataar where the rest of the day will be free. Evening: Farewell banquet and concert at ger restaurant, complete with a private concert. We will have the traditional musicians, the contortionists and the Tuvan Throat Singers.

Day 13:
July 15 After a nice breakfast at the hotel we will be transfered back to the UlaanBataar airport. We will fly back to Beijing and enjoy some free time. We can help with some options of the many things you can do this day.

Day 14:
July 16 We will be transferred to the airport to fly back to LAX. After an incredible journey through amazing Mongolia, we will return to the US with many lifetime memories.

Airfare is included in the tour price.
