Your Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Milan Malpensa airport and transfer to lake Maggiore. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in a lakeside hotel;
Day 2: Morning sight-seeing of Lake Maggiore by boat visiting Stresa and the Borromeo Islands. In the afternoon, drive to Milan where you will see Leonardo da Vinci's newly restored Last Supper, Milan's Gothic Duomo and La Scala Opera House. Continue on to Verona where you will spend the night. Includes: (B);
Day 3: Morning sight-seeing of Verona with its elegant lanes and piazzas and its Roman amphitheatre. Drive to Venezia Lido. Evening gondola ride through the Venetian canals. Includes: (B);
Day 4: Morning sight-seeing of Venice. In the afternoon, visit the outlying Venetian islands of Burano and Murano. Includes: (B);
Day 5: Travel to Florence via Padova where you will see the central Basilica of Padua's patron saint: St. Anthony. Overnight in Florence. Includes: (B);
Day 6: Sight-seeing of Florence including the Uffizi art gallery. Overnight in Florence. Includes: (B);
Day 7: Drive from Florence to Assisi visiting Siena and Perugia on the way. Evening sight-seeing of Assisi on foot. Includes: (B);
Day 8: Travel from Assisi to Rome stopping in Orvieto for lunch and to visit the city's magnificent duomo. Arrive in Rome in the early evening. Includes: (B), (L);
Day 9: Full day dedicated to sight-seeing of Rome. Includes: (B);
Day 10: Visit the Vatican museums. Includes: (B);
Day 11: Leave Rome for Viareggio. Stop in the medieval town of San Gimignano for a traditional Tuscan roast lunch. In the afternoon, visit Pisa and the Piazza dei Miracoli with its famous leaning tower. Overnight in the coastal resort town of Viareggio. Includes: (B), (L);
Day 12: From Viareggio to Genoa via Santa Margherita and Portofino. Traditional Genoese dinner and overnight in Genoa. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 13: Travel from genoa back to Milan's Malpensa airport in time for your return flight to the USA or extend your stay on your own. Includes: (B).
