Your Itinerary

Day 1: Our tour begins with transfer to Bansko town/Pirin Mountain National Park, with stop for sightseeing at Rila monastery. Late afternoon accommodation at DZI hotel, situated outside of Bansko town in a beautiful pine forest. Altitude 1000 m. We will spend 2 nights at this comfortable hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 2: Next day begins by transport to Banderitza chalet/1810 m. altitude, and a hike along the road about 2 hours to Vihren chalet /1950 m altitude follows. All the region around us is rock and stone covered. Limestone rocks dominate the landscape. The soil is poor and the soil layer is not thick and it disappears here and there and one can see the limestone rock underneath. After we reach the chalet we have a rest for our lunch. There is a breathtaking view to the Vihren top and lower parts of the Pirin National Park. On our way back we have the possibility to see one improbable creation of the nature - Black fir over 1300 years old. Dinner and spending the night at DZI hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 3: Transfer about two ours to Trigrad gorge Rodope mountain. The Trigrad gorge area is part of the Rodope mountains but it is something other than the rounded hills covered with coniferous forests near the Perelik hotel, where we'll be accommodated in the evening. The first thing that impresses the person are the huge cliffs towering above us and the deep rocky valleys, where one can hardly see the meandering of the Trigrad river. Strange trees of black pine (local subspecies) grow straight from the rocks without any soil. Time and again we are convinced of nature's grandeur strangeness. Well, this is but a sketchy description of this extraordinary site with caves and rumble of the waterfalls.

A person can hardly get a real impression of the gorge if he does not see it with his own eyes. This exceptionally beautiful area is 1200 m above sea level. It is approximately an hour away from the hotel in Pamporovo. We will have a hike about 2 ours, along the road to reach the real gorge. Depending on the time left we expect to visit also Yagodina Cave, an exceptionally long underground formation. 1500 m of it are made suitable for visit. It is exceptionally beautiful with its inner halls, narrow corridors, and thousands-of-years-old stalactites, stalagmites and stalactons, which descend and ascend from everywhere around us. Temperature is about 5 C so be prepared with some extra clothing. The walk is very easy and pleasant, we are accompanied by a local guide. In the evening our car will bring us in the hotel of Perelik in the mountain resort Pamporovo. Dinner and spending the night at the hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 4: A long but necessary transfer, to the coastal lowlands of the Southern Black Sea. We will spend 2 nights at Park hotel, which is situated outside of the town of Burgas close to the Atanasovo salty lake reserve and the beach. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 5: Visit the Ropotamo reserve. We'll have two easy hikes each some 1 hour and a half long. Riverine forest, marshes, river, shrub and sand dunes at Ropotamo reserve in the morning. The picturesque coastline just south of Sozopol and a walk in the old town and the harbor in the afternoon. Late afternoon we come back to Park hotel for dinner and overnight. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 6: Transfer to Kavarna with stop for sightseeing and lunch at Nesebar old town. Late afternoon accommodation at Panorama hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is situated outside of the town, on a hill just above the sea. Two nice woody valleys are also visible from the hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 7: A trip to Kaliakra reserve. This is the real steppe for as far as the eye can see there is only steppe interspersed here and there with scrub and small stunted trees. The steppe is traversed by unexpectedly deep valleys. The coast is rocky, with vertical reddish orange cliffs descending over 150 m into the clear bluish green depths of the sea. In front of us are the remains of the ancient Kaliakra fortress, which is shrouded in legends. We'll have here an easy hike about an our along the rocky coast and among the ruins. A lunch at the local restaurant follows. In the afternoon we'll visit the Yailata reserve, with another easy hike along the rocky sea coast, of about two ours. Late afternoon we come back at Panorama hotel for dinner and overnight. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 8: Visit Durankulak lake, a freshwater lake just 5 km from the Romanian border. There is a long sandy beach between the lake and the sea. Along this beach today we'll have an easy hike about two ours. Good possibilities for swimming and beach options. In the afternoon we came back to Kavarna for visiting the small but very interesting local ethnographic museum. Last dinner for the trip at Panorama hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 9: Transfer to Varna for internal flight to Sofia, where our tour is over. Includes: (B).
