This expedition is for a group of travelers who want an amazing, active safari in Uganda and want authentic cultural immersion. Stay in luxury tented camps while trekking the mountain gorillas by day. After your safari, venture to the village of Lutengo for an in-depth cultural stay with the Master Musicians of Buganda and their families. See the Best of East Africa that most travelers miss and ‘Discover by Doing’!

Your adventure begins in southwestern Uganda in the plains, grasslands, and waterways of Lake Mburo National Park, home to zebra, hyrax, warthog and a multitude of water birds. Then you’ll meet the Mountain Gorilla—one of the planet’s rarest animals—in Bwindi’s “impenetrable forest”. In Kibale Forest, walk beneath the shadowy forest canopy and in swamps among this reserve’s great variety of small primates, including chimpanzees and red colobus monkeys.

Following your wildlife adventure, visit the rural village of Lutengo where Uganda’s most celebrated traditional musicians and dancers will greet you with raucous song and dance. Few foreigners come to their village, so they’re eager to make you part of the extended family.

Led by Albert Ssempeke, the Master Musicians of Buganda (appointed as royal musicians to the king) will be your hosts as you explore the culture of the Buganda. Cooking lessons, storytelling, dance and drumming sessions, and instruction on traditional instruments (including xylophone, fiddle and flute) are all part of your stay. And like all of Another Land’s cultural activities, you won’t simply watch. You’ll discover by doing - diving right in and participating "hands on."

Conclude this fantastic adventure with a hike through Mabira Forest en route to Kampala. Then, in the capital city, enjoy a tour to the impressive Kasubi tombs—the historic resting-place of Bugandan kings—before returning home.
