Watch caribou during their fall migration crossing the river at times close to your canoe. Meet local Inipiat people and lifestyle. colors. This is a wonderful journey through autumn, with great colors of subarctic boreal forest. Clear night offer chances to see the Aurora Borealis, the Northen Lights.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
Guests meet with guides in Fairbanks. Commuterflight to Inmupiat village Ambler. Start of canoe trip. Overnight in tents.

Day 2:
Canoeing and visit of the prehistoric archaeological site of Onion Portage, where over 10 000 yers ago hunters hunted the caribou. Overnight in tent.

Day 3:
Continue canoeing, looking for wildlfie such as caribou, moose or an occasional bear. Overnight in tent.

Day 4:
Canoeing to Kavet creek where we will stay for 2 nights.Overnight in tent.

Day 5:
Dayhike to the Great Kobuk Sanddunes. Overnight in tent.

Day 6:
Continue canoeing. From here on we will see more and more bands of caribou swimming through the Kobuk river. Overnight in tent.

Day 7:
Canoeing Kobuk river, enjoy wildlfie and the incredible fall colours. Today we are leaving Kobuk Valley National Park. Overnight in tent.

Day 8:
Canoeing closer to the Inupiat village of Kiana we will see more and more hunting and fishing cabinms of the local people. Overnight in tent.

Day 9:
Our last stretch of canoeing , arriving at Kiana. Transport of gear to the airstrip. Visit the town and meet local people. Overnight in tent. If somebody wishes can use B&B at own expense.

Returnflight to Fairbanks. End of Tour.

Airfare is included in the tour price.
