The Majestic Gulf Islands lie in the rain shadow of Vancouver Island, next to the US San Juan Islands. Three to seven day expeditions by mother ship for kayak exploration and coastal cruises out of Victoria and/or Vancouver. Explore a myriad of bays, and inlets around southern BC. Trips are scheduled for various times throughout the spring and fall.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Travel on the mother ship Rolano to the Gulf Islands, which include Galiano, Mayne, Saturna, Moresby, Prevost, Coal and Salt Spring. Take an orientation paddle to see some of the intricate network of waterways throughout the islands. Come aboard, shower, rest and relax. Wine and dine with a dinner cruise to our next destination. (L,D).

Day 2 - After breakfast, kayaking adventures begin! Catch sights of white sandy beaches, quiet coves and bays. Many of these places are sheltered, excellent for kayaking and small boats. (B,L,D).

Day 3 - Cabbage Island. Another day of kayaking adventure! With secluded beaches and white sand have the option of taking your lunch ashore, or meeting the mother ship. Take a swim in the warm waters off shore, look at sea life on the beaches. Return to the rolano for fine wine and dinning. (B,L,D).

Day 4 - East Point Park. A naturalist paradise with strange formations in the sandstone that forms the shores. Catch sea life and a wide array of sea birds. A great place to see Orcas (killer whales). Back eddies are formed from the strong curl around the point. Small fish congregate there, thus bringing the birds, salmon and larger animals that prey on the salmon. (B,L,D).

Day 5 - First nations history of at least 5000 years. Nice beaches and sea views. Kayak in areas where the stretch of beaches are rocky with marshes and forests above the tide line. (B,L,D).

Day 6 - Desolation Sound (named for Capt. George Vancouver). More than 60 km of shoreline, offshore islands. Warm waters, ideal for swimming, diving and exploration of sea and wild life in the lakes, rivers and streams, as well as the ocean. Nearing the end of our week, we wind down the activity to prepare for disembarking back to where we started a week earlier. Have lunch, a paddle and we start to miss you already! (B,L,D).

Day 7 - Return home to Victoria and/or Vancouver aboard the rolano. Happy kayaking ! Hope to see you again soon!!! (B,L).
