Your Itinerary

Day 1:
ITINERARY:
Day 1 Chiang Mai—Thatorn—Chiang Rai (L/D)
08:00 Drive from Chiang Mai by car/minibus/coach to Fang and Thatorn via Chiang Dao. Short stop at village of Chiang Dao for drinks and walk around the local market. En route visit Huay Luek, a Meo hilltribe village. After arrival in Thatorn, a small village just a few kilometers from Burmese border. Enjoy lunch at Mae Kok River Lodge. Depart by traditional motor-powered boat for five-hour journey down Kok River, passing tiny hilltribe villages, bamboo huts and jungle. First stop is village of Mae Salah, a river checkpoint. Further downriver past some rapids, visit a Lahu hilltribe village. Last stop before Chiang Rai is a cave housing many sacred statues of Lord Buddha. Arrive early evening in Chiang Rai and check in at RIMKOK RESORT. Dinner and accommodations.

Day 2:
Day 2 Chiang Rai—Chiang Mai (B/L)
Breakfast
07.30 Depart Chiang Rai by car/minibus to Ban Kiu Kaan near Chiang Khong to visit White Hmong village. Continue to Chiang Saen, former capital of first Thai kingdom, situated on Mekong river at border between Thailand and Laos. Visit Wat Phra Dhat Jom Kitti by climbing 383 steps to top of the hill. Also visit Wat Chedi Luang and small museum nearby. Lunch at local restaurant. Continue to Golden Triangle on Mekong river where borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. Brief boat trip in the Golden Triangle area.
15.30 Transfer to Chiang Rai airport
19.10 Depart Chiang Rai by TG-183.
19.50 Arrive Chiang Mai with transfers to your Chiang Mai hotel.
